It's funny, but I think Day 2 just comes down to the second round pick for most people. I mean, let's be honest, once we get into Round 3 we really don't know much, and you just have to leave it up the scouts to pick the players that they think our best. So, the Rangers draft some unknown goalie (at least to us) when there are some known commodities on the board who were mentioned as first rounders, and it pisses us off.

If the Rangers drafted Wilde, Thomas, McLeod, etc, there, nobody would give a rat's ass about rounds 3-7.

. Yea 2nd rd ended up a dud and I thought it was pretty crucial with all things considered. I just couldn’t justify taking a goalie that soon. Regardless of Hanks age, or Shestyorkins status, it just seems like a wasted opportunity to get a more pressing need. The picks after I’m sour on because it’s so many LHD. Use some imagination ffs and realize you have about 10 guys projected there already

Rangers GM Jeff Gorton said he has already spoken to a number of pending UFAs and is active in that process. He said the expectation is to provide opportunity for the young guys next season, but the hope is to bring in some "character players" that can show them the ropes.

If this kid turns into a stud keeper, we are all going to look like a bunch of idiots.

The NHL Radio guys were talking about prospect report called the "Red Line Report" and were reading some of the write-ups for guys (which had some mean stuff) -- like the movie "Land of the Lost" is about Bode Wilde's defensive zone play. And Grigorio Denisenko is talented by has the compete level of an Aardvark.

I hope that turns out to be true of Wilde. De-commited from Michigan and became an Islander in the same week. He's dead to me.

I’d love to eat my words on Olof. I do wonder if maybe they plan on trading Shestyorkin in some sorta package and that’s why they drafted Lindbom. But it’s probably the leaving Russia thing which is worrying them. If that’s the case it makes more sense.

I think it's more that with goalies, you get a few of them and hope that one of them hits. They are so hard to project outside of the crazy elite guys that come around once in awhile.

I think that’s another thing upsets me. They have this crazy good goalie coach, so you don’t think your coach get the same out of a guy later on as you do in rd 2? Cmon really? He can coach Walter Hudson into a good goalie and he’s fat and dead haha

Well, supposedly the crazy good goalie coach was orgasmic when they drafted Olaf so maybe he was the driving force.

Nash does fit the character guy that can show the kids the ropes mold very nicely. But does he want to spend the next three years doing that or trying to win in Columbus. That one might come down to the wife telling him she wants New York.

It’s one of those picks that will say a lot about the scouting staff. If they blew it heads should roll. You can’t throw away a 2nd rd pick in a draft with the upmost importance like that

Without Gorton acquiring that changeover in these current two weeks both through free agency and trades, their positive progression through both a rebuild, and even greater so through a retool to compete for a playoff spot, will both be delayed even further.
