Actually it would only cost you a 1 ,2nd ,3rd
- GERBE!!!75PTS

Actually, the total contract dollars are only divided by 5 years to determine the offer sheet aav. 7x7=49. 49/5= 8.4M aav. That’s over the 8.118M threshold and costs the two firsts.

"A case in point for the extended development period can be seen in 2014 seventh round pick (181st,) Victor Olofsson. The smaller 5'11" 172 lb. winger took three years to find his game amongst pros before breaking out last season and winning the Borje Salming Trophy for most goals (27) in the league. The Sabres signed him to his entry-level deal in April.

Center Sean Malone is another example. The West Seneca, NY native was taken in the sixth round (159th) of the 2013 draft and spent four seasons at Harvard. He signed with the club last year, had a real strong rookie campaign in Rochester to the point where he is being looked at as a possibility for Buffalo's opening night roster this coming season."

I was waiting for that to come up.

That's what I'm looking at

Offer sheet compensation is based on the average salary of the league, and CapFriendly has released the final numbers for this summer. Below is the full breakdown, with the contract’s average annual value placing it in one of seven tiers:

$1,339,575 or less No compensation
$1,339,576 to $2,029,659 Third-round pick
$2,029,660 to $4,059,322 Second-round pick
$4,059,323 to $6,088,980 First and third-round picks
$6,088,981 to $8,118,641 First, second and third-round picks
$8,118,642 to $10,148,302 Two firsts, a second and third-round picks

Over $10,148,302 Four first-round picks
It is important to note that any team trying to sign a player to an applicable offer sheet must use their own draft picks for compensation, not ones that have been acquired. That rules several teams out already from signing high profile RFAs, unless they were to work to reacquire their picks before submitting the contract.

Several players, including William Karlsson and Mark Stone are scheduled to become restricted free agents this summer and have generated offer sheet speculation. Though they don’t happen regularly, some people around the NHL believe that the day is coming when teams use the option more often. We’ll have to wait to find out if that begins this summer. You’re not reading far enough. The contract amount is divided by either the number of years or 5, whichever is less. In this case it would be 5, making the offer sheet aav 8.4 million. It’s right there clear as day.

Oddly enough I'm a par golfer. It's one of my strengths.

Essentially I shoot par and I'm done.

Sometimes I stop at the sixth hole, others the 8th, I truly never know how the day is going to look and how many holes I'll get through until I hit par.

I think Malone will make the team out of camp. An ideal 4th line center imo. Olofsson will probably start the year in Rochester, get used to the NA ice surfaces but he could be a quick call up if he lights it up down there.

It has a few funky holes on it. I like the closing stretch (16-18), nice finish there.

So you know there is actually a reason to draft college and European kids in the later rounds and there's examples of it??
