Can't tell if you're memeing or not Gerbe, it was a concern listed by just about every major publication in regards to him. Our locker room needs more high character dudes.
- Tsyolin

There's nothing wrong with his character he's a well respected individual the Red Wings got a prospect that could have went in the top 10 but there were so many right handed defenseman so that's the reasoning for his fall and he will most likely end up the weber of this draft

Let's not make up lies( attitude) about wilde he just wanted more Sweden blood
- GERBE!!!75PTS

Did you just instruct everyone to not make up lies and then make up lies about the GM?

I LOVE the fact the new managemenff team has put an emphasis on high character when assessing a prospect's overall grade.
This will eventually playout in spades and help to create an environment, a (dare we say) culture of winning ... holding oneself accountable, buying in to a singular, common goal.

As soon as they have a core with this type of commitment to excellence they have a chance.
It's a process...come on now...say it with me...

USA Today's Kevin Allen has a best-fit for 15 ufa's:

14. Defenseman Ian Cole: A veteran defenseman with Stanley Cup rings, Cole can help several teams. The Devils seem like an intriguing option. How about the Colorado Avalanche? Best fit: Buffalo Sabres. Need a veteran defenseman who can help develop a winning culture.

I appreciate e the winning culture thing,
but we’ve gotta get rid of at least 1 guy (if not 2) in order to bring him in

Dahlin-Risto
Scandella-Bogo
McCabe-Nelson
Beaulieu

Guhle is ready
Pilut, Borgen, Hickey all close

Agreed.

Now if they can draft where talent and character intersect, all is well.

Side note: Was their a late round Sabres pick talking about how much of a wake up call he had to his work ethic? I thought I heard something like that in an interview yesterday.

I like the Mattias Samuelsson pick, was hoping they have a chance to get him.
- SABRES 89

I wanted Wilde vs him bc Samuelsson is LH and we are stacked on that side
But i think he will be a good player for us
Good pick

Wow, in just raw numbers the Sabres are STACKED at D.

In three to five years, if even two of the D (not counting Dahlin) develop into NHL'ers you have half your defensive group not counting any that stay on (Risto) or develop (Guhle or Borgen).

I can't count Hickey (unsigned) or Pilut (Antipin was supposed to be top 6 last year) but we'll see.

Talk about an overnight change.

I knew i was forgetting someone
Gotta still count Antipin since he wants to stay in NA and play

Fitzgerald, Laaksonen, & now Samuelsson too

I get the feeling that Dahlin will switch to right when he is comfortable in the NHL.

It’s great asset management.

He will be able to move some of these guys for premiums if they pan out.

Yeah but Antipin may or may not be qualified. I think that's how it works, he would be an RFA right?

If he wants to sign with the Sabres, they need to lose the clause he can't play in Roch. He needs the AHL if he wants to stay, with the Sabres at least.

Jcrag, I think it was you that said trades after the draft rarely happen.

Do you remember 7/1 two years ago?

It is.

I mean in terms of volume of prospects, they're loaded. For the next four years. Now if what 20% of them pan out, you still have a solid D core.

Anything beyond that is exactly what you said, additional assets he can flip for something like, I don't know, a wing.

And if these guys develop well...it will enable the organization to be able to make trades to fill holes in the roster much more easily...since good, young Dmen are highly valued.

That's one thing I do agree on, if the truism is in fact true and D do take longer than wings, and your org is in last place and depleted of both at each level, then draft and develop the D first and get the Wings when you're closer to competing.

Can someone trade us a 6th rounder today to get us back on the only topic that actually matters?

Well you're not helping your argument here because he was drafted by the Isles.
