Drafting D-man is smart, should they get a handful out of this draft, they can be moved. Nashville has been doing that for years. The problem, not with Lindbom as player or person, but because he was pick way before his rank. You could argue that after his u18's he's figured it out and is on his way to becoming a good goalie. Or you could argue he had 2 week period where he played out of his mind. We've seen that before too.

Don’t get me wrong, that pick startled me as well as pissed me off in the moment mainly because I would’ve liked to see a sexy forward or offensive defenseman but the one thing I truly trust the rangers on is picking and developing goalies. The goalie was picked early based on consensus scouting reports but I bet if you looked at every teams picks vs where those picks were ranked going into draft night, you could argue 1-2 reaches for most teams

I did some research last night and I gotta say it’s hard to have confidence in this draft based on the past with this scouting staff. If you look going back to 2000 I can’t beleive how inept it’s been. I never really paid attention to drafts up until now, but man they’ve had clunker after clunker in these drafts. Granted they didn’t have a number 1 pick a lot and the ones they did have, have been pretty good for the most part. But all you can do is sprinkle in a few others in different rds and that’s basicslly it. There success rate for all these picks is brutal at best for way to long. I’m surprised this isn’t brought up here more often tbh. And they haven’t had a Canadian kid make the team since Delzotto, and Staal before that. That a long time ago now. Duclair ok but he was traded and really hasnt shown what they probably thought he would when he was drafted. I just don’t understand the lack of Canadian players, it’s like they comepltely dismiss that whole area to get players.

This scouting staff may need an overhaul, the proof is in the pudding. Other teams I’d think blow them away with success in the draft. It’s been really bad for along time now

Between Chytil, Andersson, Howden and now Kravtsov, the rangers have 4 pretty damn good forward prospects. Before this draft, I think we only really had 1 good defensive prospect in Hejek and 1 goalie prospect in Shestyorkin but then we have 3 really good defensemen and 2 quality goalie prospects to go along with our 4 forwards.

Also another thing to consider is that defensemen usually take a year or 2 longer to develop. If the rangers truly have a 5 year plan mapped out, The rangers could go forward heavy the next 1-2 drafts and those younger forwards could mature into NHL players around the same time these defensemen do.

I was thinking that too. If they go mostly forwards next year it would make this year seem more plausible. So many D this year has me scratching my head

Didn't the goalie Olaf only have a really good 3 week period or something that shot him up the draft board? I thought other than that he was pretty just ok most of the season. I just hope the Rangers didn't go out on a limb for a hot streak. That is the thing that worries me a little

All these picks seem to suggest they took into account the end of their seasons only basically. I’m not sure it’s that smart or not

Someone has to

We all say Hank Hank Hank...and that he was a 7th rder and all, even I used that to defend them, but you can’t have dud after dud in the drafts. He’s basicalky saved the franchise the last 10-15 years. Eventually it’s going to come back and bite you in the ass

If they don’t hit on Chytil Andersson and the 3 this year, there in for some serious trouble

Nah we just get more Hayes and Vesey FAs. Raid other team's cupboards

Last night, live on NBC's (NY), Sunday late night "Sports Final" show hosted by Bruce Beck, Chris Kreider made an appearance, in part as a former 1st Rounder, & as a pre-show translator for Rangers 1st Rounder, Vitali Kravtsov. In addition, Nils Lundkvist was there as well. The plan was to also have K'Andre Miller, their other remaining 1st Rounder in person, but he was prevented from traveling to NY, reportedly due to bad weather, after having returned home to Minnesota on Saturday.
Kreider said he was physically wise, "110% recovered" from last season's blood clot injury, and rib resection surgery, to which he returned in tallying 14 points in the final 14 games of the season. He was also positive with their 1st Rounders selected to support their rebuild situation.
Lundkvist was excited to be here and begin his first preseason training as Rangers property. He added in sounding positively that his small size will not hurt his play on both ends of the ice, due to his "hockey sense and skills", and nor will it prevent him from being able to succeed in playing during "game deciding situations".
Kravtsov learned his English well from Kreider prior to the show, in when being asked by Bruce Beck about being selected, and then playing here with the big boys as opposed to those over in the KHL, he replied while smiling that he was excited and likes being in NY, so "Lets Go Rangers".
So maybe Kravtsov would like to arrive in North America earlier, to begin working his way up to playing with the "big boys", and possibly with Captain Kreider the way it appears best for now.

No Clark in my opinion is biggest problem guy is terrible at what he does agree that Sather probably isn't as involved.
