No... It's doing what you have to do and using what you have to your advantage to acquire a player that can help you down the road! When talking about LA that player is clearly Vilardi and I wouldn't hesitate to take on Phaneuf's 3 years to get him! Habs won't be competitive for at least 2 and after that the contract is very easy to get rid of

I absolutely agree 100%. I was simply alluding to the fact that it's too bad you have to be in this type of situation to have to take something like that on in order to acquire top end talent. Clearly an indictment of the current and steady mismanagement and decline of this team over the years.

I'm all for them sucking now..because they do and will without any talent, so might as well be hopeful with the future. I'd like to see them tear it all down, but MB's pride won't allow. I'd like to see Price and Waber traded. Anybody over 25-26 really. Do-over and do it right.

They have to deal with the Pacioretty situation fairly soon, last thing they should be doing is starting the season with him unsigned and still with the team! If this team is anywhere near a playoff spot at the deadline Bergevin will not deal him and he'll lose him for nothing

For sure. If they're doing their "reset" now.....those 2 won't really fit? Weber's contract would be easier to get rid of at this point due to the Preds taking the recapture penalties......that Price contract is the worst in the NHL.

the good news is, there are very few top centers available. Tavares, Stasny... that's about it.
so chances are he'll fail signing one of them.
