The Brown deal is a little over half a million more than Phaneuf's with an extra year, I'd rather it be Phaneuf

For sure. Between the 2 contracts that would be the one. It's like choosing what STD you want though??

No... It's doing what you have to do and using what you have to your advantage to acquire a player that can help you down the road! When talking about LA that player is clearly Vilardi and I wouldn't hesitate to take on Phaneuf's 3 years to get him! Habs won't be competitive for at least 2 and after that the contract is very easy to get rid of

I absolutely agree 100%. I was simply alluding to the fact that it's too bad you have to be in this type of situation to have to take something like that on in order to acquire top end talent. Clearly an indictment of the current and steady mismanagement and decline of this team over the years.

I'm all for them sucking now..because they do and will without any talent, so might as well be hopeful with the future. I'd like to see them tear it all down, but MB's pride won't allow. I'd like to see Price and Waber traded. Anybody over 25-26 really. Do-over and do it right.

There's plenty of time to deal with Price and Weber... They have to deal with the Pacioretty situation fairly soon, last thing they should be doing is starting the season with him unsigned and still with the team! If this team is anywhere near a playoff spot at the deadline Bergevin will not deal him and he'll lose him for nothing

For sure. If they're doing their "reset" now.....those 2 won't really fit? Weber's contract would be easier to get rid of at this point due to the Preds taking the recapture penalties......that Price contract is the worst in the NHL.

If they think that Mete can play along side Weber again this year......then they're beyond delusional. I love the kid.....but they'll ruin him.

July 1 will be another ass puckering event as MB will most likely do another annual signing that's bizarre and counter intuitive.

I don't really see the point if they in fact move on from Pacioretty

the good news is, there are very few top centers available. Tavares, Stasny... that's about it.
so chances are he'll fail signing one of them.
and they will start next season, MB' 7th as GM, without a true #1C.

fire this clown already. I would actually be ready to pay to see that happening.

Thornton on 1 leg would be the best center montreal has had in at least 30 years

Both are in MB's eyes! Especially in desperation-mode. Never underestimate MB's ability to over-estimate and over-value talent.

Whoever said MB is an excellent evaluator of talent should be hit with a ball of his own poop!!

Ah never mind.....it was Brian Burke ....enough said.
