Is that a real thing or just media bullpoop like the Kessel/Sullivan issues?

I don’t beleive he’s an “issue” but is just a weird dude that doesn’t fit.

I think Hanifin will be as good as Hamilton, but I guess as far as immediate impact Carolina wins this deal.

I don't know about that.

Ferland > Lindholm
Hamilton > Hanifin (for right now)

I don't know much about Adam Fox, so I can't opine on him, but IMO Carolina improved more out of this deal short-term than Calgary did.

Carolina really just needs an established #1 C and they're a playoff team IMO.

I think most would value Lindholm quite a bit higher than Ferland for reasons not immediately clear by a direct comparison of last seasons statistical production.

I don’t agree Ferland is better than Lindholm. Ferland benefited greatly from playing with Money and Jenny. And has well documented off ice issues.

Lindholm also has a better 200ft game, but I like style of Ferland a little more.

Ferland and Kassian are castaways on a deserted island and each get to bring one thing. What do they choose?

I thought the Flames should have got a little more for this package, but also think I like this deal.
Hamilton is a super talented 6'5" 225lb great skating , right shot defenceman, who at the age of 24 is already on his way to play for his 3rd team in the NHL. That says something.
Fox was a crapshoot to sign, and will not likely ever have higher trade value.
Ferland probably had his career year last year - sell high.

Lindholm is a top 6 right shooting 23 year old who the new coach wants and the team needs.
Hanifin is also a 23 year old super talented 5 man who is top 4 right now, and could grow into a #1 Saturday, June 23, 2018 by the time Gio is done. (Valimaki will certainly have something to say about this)

Both Lindholm and Hanifin are RFA's, but that is a Brad Treliving specially. Can't wait to see what he gets them sighed for.

I'd take Lindholm over Ferland.

Ferlands production had to do with playing with Monahan and Gaudreau.

Lindholm will be a good middle 6 player for Calgary.

Peters has intimate knowledge about Noah and Elias, so he would know more about those 2 than just about anyone would...

Assuming since Hamilton was dealt the rumors must be been true about him in locker room, or personality issues.. because on the ice you'd figure he's next to untradable.

I think this trade was pretty even overall. As I said, I think Carolina wins in the short-term, but CGY definitely benefits in the long-term IMO because of what Hanifin will likely cost.

I think Lindholm is good, but I don't necessarily share everyone's opinion that he's a legit top-six winger. I think he's a high-end 3rd liner/solid 2nd-liner.

Regardless, I don't think the Flames get worse from this deal. I just think as a whole it doesn't move the needle much as of right now.

Honestly, the trade's pretty even. I also agree that Hamilton is the best player in the deal though. However, I think it comes down to two RFA's in Carolina that were tough to sign and something with Hamilton's attitude in Calgary.

Ferland was scored more last season than Lindholm. Hamilton scored 7 more goals than Hanifin. Hamilton is cost-controlled even though Hanifin will be cheaper.

It all seems like a wash at the end of the day. It must be a dynamic issue they'd want to change or maybe it's a financial thing.

- Rinosaur

Only because he played with Gaudreau & Monahan. When he was put on other lines he did fck all.

Adam Fox and Rasmus Anderson are Calgary’s 2 best prospects or were. I hope Rutherford is talking to Calgary to try and get Anderson at this point it might only cost Sheary and that would provide the only organizational need at 3RD. This is a terrible trade for the Flamesz

I agree, both are younger. Hannafin is a solid pick up. Lindholm too
