I doubt if they sign Tavares to a 10 million dollar deal per season they'll want to keep Tavares - Seguin - Spezza down the middle. That's about 26 million dollars in salary.

they sure as hell won't have to give up a 1st to dump him either.

look at the ufa c's, if they sign tavares then it basically just leaves stastny/bozak and a bunch of bottom 6 centers.

Some team will take spezza off of their hands with only 1 year left and hope he rebounds away from hitchcock instead of giving 3-4 years to bozak.

supply and demand, more teams need C's than there are actual C's out there.

have a feeling the canucks might pony up for bozak anyway so it won't matter.

Honestly I'd be happy with a 2nd round pick and a prospect, you're getting them for nothing but spending some cash.

Just a thought!

If you took on Spezza's full $7.5 million and they pay Tavares $10.5 million they're only increasing their cap by three million which is do-able for them.

I just see other teams with plenty of cap space as well that could use a stopgap C so I have a feeling Dallas would have multiple teams interested in taking on Spezza.

Sure, but you've gotta make a pitch to Dallas or you're not doing your job!

Which teams?
If JT signs in big D then SJ resigns Joe probably. If not he is available.

Montreal like vantel said.

NYI, NYR, TOR, CGY, CAR, ARZ could all potentially use a C to play on their 2nd or 3rd lines

None of us do, but they've already called his agent so clearly there's some interest.

I dont think anything will come out of it. Cant imagine Benning will want to sign him more then 3 years, cant see Bozak going for that

This was the guy that was able to really slow down McDavid's offensive production way back in the OHL Playoffs. Now that the Oilers have Chiarelli to do that job, the Canucks no longer need Cassels

One of them managed to get on the first line, the other played 2c. Ferland will not be on the first line in carolina, maybe 2nd but likely the 3rd line.
