Hanifin's defensive game is pretty questionable, he's pretty young so there's time for him to improve it for sure, so time will tell. I like his offensive game, but he's not going to be a game breaker.

Calgary is taking a big risk splitting up the Gio/Hamilton pairing, they were one of the best in the league at 5v5. It's possible that Gio was making Dougie look better defensively than he was though.

That's the key here.

Both dmen can put up points(Hanifin would've put up more than he had if he got PP1 time like Dougie).

Gonna be interesting to follow, because I do suspect that Gio covered some of Dougie's warts up, but at the same time, I think Hanifin's defensive game needs some serious work.


I think ferland is getting underrated by some people, he did ride shotgun with 2 great players, but he did his part and has played well on other lines in the past.

The next TDL is JB’s most important one yet. Setting us up for the following season with many prospects in full stride. A key UFA as in a true star finally makes sense.
This year & next the kids time to break out or bust. Either way the prosoect pool is deeper than ever & assets to move as needed for the right player.

I doubt if they sign Tavares to a 10 million dollar deal per season they'll want to keep Tavares - Seguin - Spezza down the middle. That's about 26 million dollars in salary.
