Yeah, it's very true. I'm basing my prediction on him walking but I guess he could choose Carolina... but why - neem55
he's already going to their development camp this summer so I could see him signing there. |

I really thought the wings would take hughes, they were courting him and taiking d leading up but Arizona passing on z got us a dynamic d which we need so bad. - Bettmanhatesus
I think the Wings were going to take Hughes if Zadina was gone. ARZ, MTL and OTT really shook up the entire draft.
I thought for sure Arizona was going to draft Zadina or Hughes.
Arizona and Detroit draft Hughes and Zadina and I think the Canucks fanbase is a lot more divided right now with whoever they would've drafted |

If you (Nighthawk) are going full fanansyland (predicting the future in your usual vague way) why not include Woo (our 2nd round pick) also. Is that more clear? - neem55

Hanifin's defensive game is pretty questionable, he's pretty young so there's time for him to improve it for sure, so time will tell. I like his offensive game, but he's not going to be a game breaker.
Calgary is taking a big risk splitting up the Gio/Hamilton pairing, they were one of the best in the league at 5v5. It's possible that Gio was making Dougie look better defensively than he was though.
That's the key here.
Both dmen can put up points(Hanifin would've put up more than he had if he got PP1 time like Dougie).
Gonna be interesting to follow, because I do suspect that Gio covered some of Dougie's warts up, but at the same time, I think Hanifin's defensive game needs some serious work.
I think ferland is getting underrated by some people, he did ride shotgun with 2 great players, but he did his part and has played well on other lines in the past. - Nucker101
I think Lindholm is the reason Calgary wins. I think he will break out in a major way this year.
Ferklund is a good role players and capitalized on his opportunity to play with Mony and Gaudreau but he won't be nearly as impactful in Carolina.

coming back from camping to see Hughes and Woo, I'm still a little shell-shocked I'm so impressed by those picks. Wouldn't have hated Wilde in that spot, wonder why he slid so far. - neem55

Hamilton > Hanafin until proven otherwise.
Ferland - Lindholm (Ferland obviously brings the snarl, Elias is younger with higher ceiling). I think Ferland will still be playing top 6 in Carolina and continue to put up points but with that edge that is hard to find. I am not going to miss him in a Flames jersey next year.
Lindholm will be fine in Calgary but won't be the wrecking ball.
Plus Fox pushes Carolina decisively in the win column imo. |

Lindholm is way better than Ferland, it's not very close. Much better defensively and offensively. Yes Ferland brings grit, but that's about it in comparison. If Fox passes on Carolina, which many think he's going to choose where he wants regardless, than this is very close and will depend on how well each player fits into each roster/system. Peters just coached lindholm and Hanafin though, so you can be sure he was in favour of this. |
