I'm surprised Kawhi hasn't been dealt yet. I don't know what the hold up is.
- hereticpride

It is a weird situation. Not like the Spurs think they a)have a chance at the title and/or b) have a chance at re-signing him

There's really only one solution here right?

My best guess is simply other teams know he is intent on signing with LA next year and aren't bothering to try to get him to commit. And it's not like the the Lakers are going to want to try to trade for him if they know they can get him for money next year. Not like they're going anywhere now.

Combined with the fact that SA is probably asking the moon. That's all I got. SA has no leverage and don't want to get hosed

Also, on the topic of free agents, FWIW, both Riley Nash and Ian Cole had very solid possession numbers for guys who get at least 55% of their starts in the D zone.

Val will be back and not Kilmer.

Can’t go wrong there. I always side with the hockey people. Same with my job, I side with my knowledgeable managers and senior leadership. I always listened to my parents and the elderly too.

Once you accept that life is a perfect meritocracy it’s easy mode as far as how to think.

I want to tell a story about 2 guys. One guy is, let's call him Ding Dong, and the other one is named Mr. Patient.

So Ding Dong wants to buy a new tv and is told one just came out. Well the tv is expensive, but it looks a bit better than the one he has now. The other person Mr. Patient finds out that another tv is releasing a year later for half the cost and much better quality. Mr. Patient tells Ding Dong that if he just waits a year it would be much better.

Eventually Ding Dong can't wait anymore and goes out and buys this new expensive tv. He gets all excited because the picture is a little bit crisper and brags to Mr. Patient about it all the time. In the meantime Mr. Patient just continues to watch his old tv.

A year later the new awesome tv comes out and Mr. Patient runs out buys one. Ding Dong hears about this and wants one too now. So Ding Dong thinks he can just sell his 1 year old tv he paid a lot of money for and get the new one. Well to Ding Dong's surprise no one wants to buy it because they would rather use the money on the new one. Now Ding Dong complains that he is stuck with this crappy tv.

Moral of the story...there are more Ding Dongs in the world than Patient ones.

but mr patient forgot there's a burn in and calibration period so he has to wait longer

I’ve never disagreed with a politician or disputed a police ticket. Never complained about bad service somewhere or crappy food made by a professional chef.

So Mr. Patient will wait another couple months with only twice the performance instead of two and a half.

Off-season plans..

Step 1: Tell Neurvirth he has visa issues, best to stay in Czech for the year. Gudas has no choice but to go with his sister.
Step 2: Sign Lehner to a 2 year deal with a 1.6M cap hit.
Step 3: Offer Winnipeg a mid draft pick for Mathieu Perreault to help clear up some space.
Step 4: Sign Calvin De Haan to a 4 year deal worth around 17M total.
Step 5: Have a Happy 4th of July

EDIT: Soon as I post this, I see on front page that Winnipeg is trying to clear space. Eklund uses me as a source confirmed.

That has Dale Weise written all over it.

"bottom-6 role player, only signed for 3 years at a slight overpayment."

K'Andre Miller should have been taken over O'Brien, No question about it.

No one was upset then. No one knew that the Flyers were targeting him, that just became a funny story after the fact.

Perreault would be an awesome 3C. Think he’s about 30 and not sure on the cost but I like him far more than Nash or Bozak.

That is pretty damned sexy if they all work out. Though I think I would rather see Ratcliffe and Strome in there instead of Martel and Goulbourne.

Crazy thoughts on this lazy Sunday.

Assuming the goaltending costs then next season, or something else I suppose... Club ends up missing the playoffs.

Enough to get Hak out the door? Keep that dream alive

Here is a crazy thought. Hope for the team to thrive under Hakstol and for the entire team to be successful. Hakstol received some coach of the year votes.
