I agree but as you look at the trade you can see why it was made. Schenn would not have gotten the Flyers the cup, with the 2 pieces they picked up the Flyers should be really good in the coming years. When the Flyers up and coming pieces are all hitting 22-25, Schenn will be approaching 30
- wcorvette

Schenn was a solid piece and is a pretty good player...but when you have Konecny and Patrick needing minutes there was only so many to go around. I saw it more of a step sideways, with a big future upside.

if he stays and is healthy, which is a big IF, he could be the surprise we need for the season. If Nuevy doesnt have a good season his career is likely over in the NHL.

40 games min and healthy for the playoffs would be nice

- wcorvette

I'm not willing to risk my season on Neuvirth staying healthy.

I have a feeling Anderson ends up an Islander.
And Flyers stick with the status quo with the same two goalies.

Contract years for Neuvirth and Elliot may bring out the best in them. Neuvirth has a new training regime this summer, so maybe he can stay healthy? Seems unlikely but I’m trying to stay positive.

I think Flyers will upgrade the bottom six center and maybe a D acquisition before they go for a new goalie.

Also, on the topic of free agents, FWIW, both Riley Nash and Ian Cole had very solid possession numbers for guys who get at least 55% of their starts in the D zone.

Neuvy has tried switching trainers before, it didn't work. Some guys just don't have durable builds and are injury prone, I think Neuvy is one of the those guys.

I’d do Weise and Nuevy for Anderson.
- landros 2

Need to add a pick imo. Now that Anderson has asked out who knows what Ottawa does

I think we see more Lyons and maybe Stolarz before they go after a new goalie.

I’m not against the idea of a goalie upgrade, in fact I believe Elliot needs a 1a/1b partner for him to be used to his best potential. I just get the feeling it’s a lower priority for Hexy.

Can’t see stolarz getting a shot unless he somehow just is lights out in the ayhl

I can see one of him or Lyons moved as well as it is the flyer way to move players when there is a log jam

Why would anyone with even one functioning brain cell want Weise?

I disagree. After having to part with a 3rd for a guy he probably never really wanted because his goalies can't stay healthy, there is no way Hextall is comfortable with the status quo, IMO. Plus, I don't think the organization is anywhere near convinced that Lyon will ever be more than a backup at best at the NHL level and they aren't going to pin a lot of hopes on a guy like Stolarz who basically missed the entire past season due to injury and is totally unproven in the NHL. If he can get a guy like Anderson for the cost of Neuvirth and a 3rd, he'll make that deal in a heartbeat, especially when you factor in that he has two 3rds in the 2019 draft.

I could see him as a throw in for Anderson, would help with Andersons cap hit and maybe the sens need to get to the floor, not sure on that though.

but yes we feel the same about Weise, those feelings were flared up by Hak using him way too much

They didn’t trade for Mrazek until they were in desperate straits in the midst of the battle for a playoff spot.

I think Lou is going to snag Anderson.

Maybe they’ll make a deal for Talbot.

But I wouldn’t be very surprised to see Neuvirth start the season here, as much as it hurts to say it.

Hope I’m wrong here.

If they really just need to get to the floor, maybe, but I still doubt it. I'm starting to think they aren't moving Karlsson any time soon and with Stone and Ceci needing new deals, I don't think reaching the floor will be a problem. They should end up somewhere between 62-66 million which is well above the floor.

That's exactly my point. Hextall doesn't want to be forced to make a deal during the season when the other team will have all the leverage. He'd much rather do something now, IMO.

Then I’m an idiot, I misunderstood. Sorry, I thought you were talking about Hexy.

In regards to Hexy, I’d like to see him be more aggressive sometimes, but like I mentioned with the Hamilton trade... even though it was a guy I wanted Hexy to be aggressive towards, he smartly stayed far away unlike the debacle the Canes made.

- Flyers1218

Yeah, I'm okay with Hexy being cheap and drafting well. It is better then making real dumb trades. The perfect GM would make great picks and fleece everybody.

He has righted the ship as far as cap space and pipe line. I think he will be more risky next year when are goalie situation is closer to being resolved.

you can now see 10 years out with how Hextall has the farm system built. You can assume they will have at least 8 picks next season, 10-15 years of players...

If you don't like the position of the team, you need to see if someone gave you a lobotomy while you were sleeping...

time to make some moves, free agency and trades is where Hextall needs to further improve this team...

until he does his grade is a B or incomplete

Takes more than drafting well and hoarding picks to be good GM ; we shall see

Anderson's cap hit is high, he is a risk after a bad season, it could be enough to include Weise. Nuevy Lyon and Weise for Anderson and a 3rd

Yup. The Flyers are now on par with the rest of the league in terms of team building. Most teams anyway.

Let’s see what Hextall can do now. This is how he will ultimately be judged.

The timing of the current core coinciding with the upcoming crop of young kids and most importantly goalie is still a huge question mark.
