Too bad the Sabres don’t pick again till the 4th.
- PrinceChill

But it's the first pick of round 4, so it's actually a 3rd - ha!!

With how many misses we've had on potentially flashy picks (see: Grigorenko, Mikhail) I love a good safe pick.

We have, what 0 picks from 2009 - 2011 draft anywhere in the organization now? I'm all about safe for a bit to build a foundation and then draft for pop.

We need an organizational foundation first.

I can respect that thought. I guess my philosophy after round one, is to grab the highest ceiling/boom potential players. But maybe some would prefer that practice for rounds 3 and on.

He was Supposed to be the Jack Eichel of this draft two years ago he was projected to go first overall injuries and consistency issues caused him to drop and other players to pass him
- gerbe75pts

was told he had some issues

Based on the draft last year, that seems to be the JB mentality, which is fine.

I'd be solidly on board with that, if we actually had a history of developing players. The Sabres just don't, so I want safe.

But, the current mgmt SEEMS to be doing better.

Also, it looks like the players Murray drafted were actually decent (some of them). It won't take many of them to make the team to make him stand out against his predecessor.

He was pretty good and he's coming back...
- buffalofan19

We talking bout the same guy?

Career high 30 points and got sent down for not really caring and then bolted to the KHL.

I’d not really call that pretty good.

- kingcong39

Little similar but day did not put the work in to reach the next level he just assumed he was the best and others passed him

But the rangers kicked him in the ass so he should be good when he comes in

Understandable. I just dont want to let mistakes in the past define the way we draft today.

It won't and it isn't. Remember the pick last year which had everyone scurrying to find out who the hell it was?

I am curious to see if JB and team go with any CHL guys. Its pretty clear their strategy is drafting Euro and College bound players.
