Building a strong winning culture through leadership and accountability.
Until you have leaders who talk the talk AND walk the talk...you got nothing

I agree with all this. If you look at the daft as a whole, his actions look good.

I'm the kind of guy that when I get 0% on a car, the money I was going to use for the down payment I put into a CD. Drives my wife NUTS typically yields me 60 bucks or so at 2.5%. Even if I loan a buck, I never do so with negative interest, I at least get the whole value of what I loaned back.

I will say this, if this were Murray he'd have gotten crushed. But, his other trades would have to be taken into account where he got fleeced because he had a history of doing so. JB only has two questionable moves involving a third and a sixth, HUGE difference.

We like JB for the same reason we liked TM, they're each radically different than their predecessor.

I believe that he's doing a good job laying a foundation and building on that, but if he's gone in two years all we'll hear how stupid he was for the following and everyone will act like they didn't think he walked on water.

1) Traded a third for Beaulieu.
2) Drafted no Canadian players.
3) Wasted a whole draft on defensemen.
4) Lost value in a pick.
5) Traded someone for the rights to sign a college player. **I believe the player gets signed in the end and it was a good trade.**

Hindsight being 20/20, if he leaves that will be the list. Also of note, I don't believe he'll be gone in 2 years.

Flagged this is to corporate.

If he’s gone in 2 years it’s because he grabbed the turkey sandwich instead of waiting for the GOD DAMN ham sandwich.

Its a 6th round pick.......there is literally no argument you can make to make me care.

It was a great draft by JB.

- feetontheair22

Well, actually the 1st pick in the 6th is practically a 5th...which is where all the magic happens.
TO's 6th next year is assumed to be late in that round...makes it virtually a 7th.
Botts should be fired, it is the equivalent of trading the 1OA for a 3rd rounder.
Too much partying about having Dahlin fall to them.

I think you may be intentionally misrepresenting what I'm saying. I'm picking up on that subtlety.

Found this while googling the FA Courting Period...
A memo from the NHL Office to clarify the Courting Period discussions...goes back to like 2015

"Please be advised that clubs are permitted to discuss the potential interest in as well as general parameters of a potential future contractual relationship with another club's pending RFA or UFA during the applicable interview periods. The clubs may not enter any agreements or make any binding offers, promises, ... oral or written concerning the terms of a potential SPC (standard players contract) with another club's pending RFA or UFA."

I guess they talk about more than the weather.
Interesting

the Lightning is among at least five teams expected to talk with Islanders All-Star center John Tavares, who also is expected to talk to the Sharks, Maple Leafs, Golden Knights and Stars, ESPN said.

Awesome!, my 2nd favorite team is at least exploring ways to improve.
Would be one he'll of an addition, and require serious Cap Mgmt...but having a 1st line of
Kucherov - Tavares - Stamkos
Well, I would watch it

Well aware. I was looking for the Andy meme from the office where he's like, "I can't tell if he's mocking me" but I didn't.

From the Detroit blog
Berggren recorded 5-5-10 totals at the recent World Under-18 Championship and was Sweden’s best and most dangerous forward. He’s got a quick release on his shot and doesn’t mind skating into traffic to make or finish a play.

I wonder who the Sabres will attempt to court througout the week. Hoping we talk to Carlson no matter how much the cost. I wonder if he talks to JVR or Nash.

You didn't stop there, you suggested the Sabres should be exploring a trade
- jcragcrumple

when a team goes 11 years w/o winning a playoff series

and 31st team in year 3 with jack

you probably should explore all options, if being a responsible gm

I heard similar things about eichel, from a friend who works from Amtrak and had a long convo with a couple nhl refs.

Seems eichel really liked partying with Kane.

Let’s hope with Kane gone so is the blow and late partying

I thought they had chemistry

The only trade he made was a pick in exchange for a later pick next year, not doing anything at all would have actually been more aggressive.
