Get me Noel at 39 - nyrangers9479
Not a bad guy to take a chance on, just worry about his skating. Apparently he isn't a very good skater unless he is going in a straight line. |

I think we need to try and pick up an extra pick or 2 early in the 2nd round, still a lot of good talent left that fell. - nyrangers9479

I feel like the Rangers just aren't going to draft someone from the CHL at all |

Steals and reaches in Round 1
I compared actual draft position with McKenzie's projections using Schuckers' pick values.
Dobson, Veleno, and Zadina were the biggest R1 steals (go DET!)
Hayton was the biggest reach by a lot.

I'm not saying it would be a bad pick. I just really worry about these big guys who can't skate very well. The way the league is going its all about speed.
Look at all the D men selected in that 1st round. Almost all of them were smaller type guys. |

Feels like the last time they did was Mcilrath and it scarred them for llife. (Miller went the CHL after being drafted USDP). |

Still can’t believe we passed onDobson. I think he was not only the best player available but also our biggest need. Nothing against who we got, just wish we grabbed Dobson instead. |

Love Filip Zadina's swagger. Said he's going to make Montreal & Ottawa pay for passing on him.
“I was telling my agent, if they will pass on me, I’m going to fill their nets with pucks. I want to prove to Detroit that they make a pretty good decision.” |

Miller is the kind of guy you always talk about. I figured you would be thrilled with that pick. Are you ever happy? |

I'm surprised Hawks took Boqvist over him
if Dobson is really as can't miss as they say, that wouldn't have happened, Hawks are not dumb |

Hawks did a really good job. They added a ton speed to the their blue line. |

Dobson was my guy for months, even when he was ranked 9/10. He’s a top pairing shutdown RHD that will put up 35-45 points. I’m not unhappy with our pick, just didsappointed Dobson was there and we passed on him. |

I think this is fair.
Honestly, we all have guys that we like and get passed on and it sucks! Lol
On Dobson, I think he’ll be a rock solid first pairing defensemen. I think the Canucks and Hawks went for star potential abd the Oilers had a tough call between Bouchard abd Dobson.

I just don’t see how you pass on an American kid who is said to be an Elite Goal Scorer and the best goal scorer in the draft. Clark said that they don’t see Kravtsov as a goal scorer. He looks real good but I don’t see why the need to go slightly off the board and take a Russian kid who has some unknowns attached when you have Wahlstrom sitting there. And the fact that he goes to those bastids, is just salt in the wound. |

You have 3 picks in the first round and you’re not even highlighted in the recaps. There was silence and surprise when the Rangers made their first pick as if the commentators (not on camera) looked at each other and said WTF.
That’s a bad job.
Miller is a solid pick and the best one they made. |

I was listening to NHL radio on the way home yesterday and there was a scout on, believe from central scouting he raved about Hayton and said he's the next Schiefle
you never know
here's what I do know, the Rangers ranked Kravtsov ahead of Zadina, so I am really glad the Rangers didn't trade up to grab him - jimbro83
I heard that too Jimbo. ..but the context of that comment was regarding Hayton's league awareness and stat awareness and not regarding his actual skill set. Apparently Schiefle is a stat whore who know follows those types of things closely |

I didn't hear that, in fact when the Rangers went up to the podium Bob McKenzie was already saying dont be surprised if it's Kravtsov

No one seems to be talking about Ottawa still. To me I like Tkachuk but to take him over Zadina and the likelihood the pick next year will be a top 5, is the dumbest thing of the night. Take Zadina ffs. And then the Dman no one heard of. They did get a second from us tho grrrrr |
