Pronman, on Miller:

Miller is a recent convert to defense. He’s 6-foot-3, 200 pounds and one of the better skating defensemen in the entire draft. Miller is also a high-character workhorse who flies up and down the ice. He’s incredibly tough on his checks in battles, and with his great closing speed, he gets in guys faces quickly. Despite being a converted forward, my major question on him is how high his offensive ceiling is. I’ve seen enough flashes from him that I think there’s something there, like the odd great pass or rush, but he’s not very consistent in that regard right now.

Pronman’s take: Miller had a fantastic end to the season at the U18s. His combination of high-end skating, physicality and character has made many scouts big fans. A recently converted forward who didn’t generate a ton of offense this season has me worried about his upside. I know a lot of scouts who think it will come once he gets used to the position (and he scored well for a guy without any PP time at the USNTDP) and that, with his athleticism/brain/character, he’ll figure it out. But there is a lot of projection in him as a player.
