What’s your top 7 look like?
- Nucker101

Geez man. Do we really need a top 7 roster projection for 2027 on draft day?

Not a legit rumour, but saw this on twitter:

Not trying to stir the pot anymore then most, lots of rumours out there, but heard from a few friends of friends that the #Canucks and the #Islanders are working a trade which involves Andrew Ladd, pick #11 #12 for pick #7 and Tanev, could be an interesting evening #NHLDraft2018

Any feelings on this, good/bad value?

- WhiteLie

I'd say Ladd probably has slightly negative value after those last two seasons and being signed until age 37 @5.5M.

I'd also say Tanev has slightly less value than #12 considering only 2 seasons left.

So if those two considerations approximately balance one another you are looking at just #7 for #11.

Really depends if you value Ladd or see him as a liability. This would depend on the perceived cap structure and development phase of the team throughout his contract.

I think you treat him as a liability regardless because that's the Isles motivation for moving him.

I’d flag him but Mackey never listens. He is too busy playing street hockey in his Stecher jersey

He's not retiring....teams rather have 2-4 year deals now rather than Luongo deals.

I have seen him play a number of times so I know why your GM thinks he will be a NHL Dman

He was talking about Brisebois

Ronny is in grade 3. Still a little fired up after Sports Day.

But he is a UFA after.

I just don't think Tanev is worth the #12OA straight-up. Maybe to a sure-fire contender but otherwise I don't see it. Not that I think it's a huge imbalance either. Just seems like wishful thinking to me to assume you'd get #12 for Tanev.

Ronnie, Ladd's contract is up their in terms of worst in the league right now.

The 7th and Tanev for 11 & 12 alone is a reach for me.

Thats kind of where I ended up. If the Isles added a 2nd or 3rd rounder (or a prospect) to cancel that out, I would take it and finally move on from the depreciating asset that is Tanev

I think there are teams that would like to reach the cap floor and would take on Ladd's contract for fairly little in terms of picks/prospects. Although I agree he should be seen as a liability.

There’s plenty of talk around teams trying to slide back early in the draft. Teams behind aren’t willing to pay much of anything at all.

No, not even Donnie can bring himself to do it with much passion these days.
