Good pick for Benning, not getting this whole he won’t sign here because he’s American and staying in college. But the same was said of Boeser and Gaudette, much more hysteria with Boeser but I’m having a hard time understanding the hysteria on bloody draft day
- Makita

I have a feeling he b lines it to pro.

Wait out 3 seasons to play with his bother that I think he'd rather compete against to be honest. If he starts pro right away, he would only have to wait a couple more years to be a UFA and many millions of dollars richer with the same freedom to walk.

Dude. 50% chance be signs this summer, 50 % chance he signs next summer. He is way to talented to waste several years of his career in college
- CanuckDon

Now your just talking out your ass... you have zero insight into his plans for his future. If and when he signs.... great, good for us.... go team. If he doesn't, well aren't we all going to hate that pick then

Quinn Hughes just stated that his goal is to get to the nhl as soon as possible .Doesnt seem like he is hesitant about joining the Nucks ? As to all the size issues , don't people remember Theo Fleury and Cliff Ronning ? A small smart game can succeed ...

How do people think tomorrow will play out?

Some solid players left on the board.

“I’m thrilled right now. I didn’t think I’d slip past Vancouver. If there was a spot I wanted to pick, it was Vancouver.” - Hughes

The interview/media scrum with him is up on the Canucks Twitter page – pretty good.

Again... no hysteria just saying it was a bigger risk then I would have taken given that all the right handed d were still there. Everyone's just butthurt because I had the nerve to question jims pick I guess

JB needs to deal out some players. Cannot believe i am saying this but prospects will push out others. Doesn’t equate into the PO’s but last few drafts are increasing competition & some legit possibilities will happen EP AG OJ & Hughes are them.

Wow ... it's amazing how fast you guys resort to childish personal attacks when one doesn't conform to the lemming mantra
- Bullfrog77

It’s amazing how defensive you are. There is risk involved with virtually any pick, just as there is an element of risk involved with virtually anything. You either do it anyways or you end up never doing anything.

Bullfrog. Hughes said 30 minutes ago he wants to turn pro immediately and play for the Canucks this season. Anything else to add?

Getting crowded on that Left side. Should be an interesting off season. I wonder if Hughes plays this year?

The notion that certain groups of players won't sign is so over-done, yes it happens, CHL players also can choose not to sign with their teams and re-enter the draft like a few before have done.

Just fear mongering at his finest, kid wants to be an NHL player and I suspect he signs sooner than later to realize his dream.

34 posts on the Sens blog at this point....I think Melnyk is going to bleed $$$ next season . I hope that they get a home run on the Karlsson trade to stem the bleeding

There is zero risk due to the fact he plays in college. Risk because he is a smurf? 100%

There's risk because of his size for sure, but risk because he plays college, whatever. If he was a Russian kid in the KHL, OK, then there's some risk.

Someone like Wilde may bump most of these forwards I list when Benning comes up. I doubt Wilde is still around at 37 though.

So with the 37th, here are some forwards that would fit into the system nicely.

Aki Thomas, Serron Noel, Jonathon Berggien, Jacob Olafsson,, Jack McBain.

Samuelsson is still a decent grab at 37 for D.
