Ok - but Hughes has more talent in his pinky than Krug and he is a better skater than Ellis. He will be a dynamic number two. We still need a stud RHD that isn’t a smurf but we went for the kid with the highest ceiling which I’m ok with. A real “Pettersson” pick - CanuckDon
Teams van plays against are getting bigger players. Same old, same old. |

I'm still getting over the disappointment of my Zadina dream being crushed, especially when I was so sure the Red Wings wanted Hughes. But I'm happy.
I've seen him play, so I know that he handled himself just fine at Worlds, and wasn't being deployed in only an offensive role. And he can skate!
I guess now we're committed to the idea that the NHL remains a 'speed and skill' game for the next decade? - Carol Schram
When you think the game is changing back to the old ways you can always sign Griffin Reinhart... |

Ya we will need to have some larger guys back there. Id say he is a 2nd pair guy who dominates the PP which will soon be one of the best in the league with him and Petterson - mauryballstein
Think about what he can do for guddys numbers |

Really like Burkie's input on this vanilla panel. Doesn't hold back from saying what he believes. - we_are_all_canucks
Gotta agree with that. Only one willing to drop some criticism. |

Same reason why Ryan Ellis is a 2nd pairing D.
Same reason why Boston wants a larger top 4 LHD to push Krug.
Same reason why Minnesota gets booted in the 1st round every year. - manvanfan
Agree it's not really an exciting pick. Time will tell I guess. |

Quit your crying. Hughes is a killer pick. He's a single piece of the puzzle and a very important piece.
Was excited that we almost had Zadina but over the moon about Hughes. He will be the most offensive Canuck d-man in their history...... |

Just because we drafted him in no way guarantees he every plays one game for us. Balls in his court, he can stay in school ..... get a degree and walk as a ufa. Will be nervously waiting for him to sign his entry level contract. |

Why worry so soon? JB has proven he takes care of players & gives them an opportunity to make the team. Fellow Americans will help us in that regard. |
