Well he did outperform ROR based on same time in NHL comparison (year 2). That being said, ROR is a better defensive player, better face off guy. I think it was more about projecting out what TK may become.

Id be more concerned at today's game speed and ROR getting older that he may very quickly be a very expensive 3C. Still a very good one but at that cap hit its a lot to suggest he is worth....

1) TK who almost doubled ROR's scoring in his second year.
2) a 6'7 Dman who is NHL ready and plays nasty
3) objectively the most decorated goalie prospect to ever come out of Canadian juniors.

Stupid trade proposals aside, how is Konecny better than ROR? Is this notion based on potential because he is younger and expected to be more than a .50 ppg player, or based on how good he is now?

Well ROR actually play in the league when he was 18 and TK and year of seasoning before playing and Colorado was one of the worst teams in the league. He can easily put up 70+ points if he was able to play with a good team and not get paired up against other teams top line. He is one of the best faceoff guys ever and one of the top defensive center in the league.

I think he's going to be a good player and I would rather have him right now than ROR. Just my opinion.
