Ottawa trades Craig Anderson and a 2nd to New Jersey for Cory Schneider. - benamo71
What?!
They are handcuffed by Anderson. No way they get that good of a return.
The guy is 37 (i think) and coming off a terrible season. |

Oiler trade Milan Lucic and Darnell Nurse to Vancouver for Ben Hutton and a 3rd and 4th round pick in 2019.
Why it works for both teams. Benning values toughness and character. After the loss of Derek Dorsett he replaces that in spades with local boy Milan Lucic and a big strong skating left D in Darnell Nurse. This makes it difficult for both Hughes and Juolevi to crack the lineup this year by default, but they could trade Edler or Del Zotto (both on final year of contact) if they play their way onto the team. Vancouver can afford Lucic's terrible contract after the Sedins retired and setup their left side D for the next 5 years plus. Lucic actually is good enough to add wing depth as well (sad state of our wing depth).
For Edmonton it's simple. Like the Hall trade (couldn't resist) they get cap space to replace Lucic with something better. Nurse is a loss, but he wasn't going to quarterback their power play there. Ben Hutton has one year left at $2.8 Mill and is in a show me position. He is an RFA at the end of the year and will be cost controlled. Also they get a couple draft picks in next year's draft. |

Explain why. - mlindsay
Because he orchestrated 2 lockouts and basically doesn't give a rat's ass about the fans.
It's about the owners and their money, then the players, then the corporate sponsors and finally the fans.
Anybody who doesn't think that is the case is naive. |

So funny that Ek says earlier that there has been more talk etc this draft than ever before blab blab blab and then during the telecast Pierre Dorion is interviewed and says how quiet this year's draft has been.

Gardiner to EDM for 2019 1st
Sparks to NYI for rights to J.T.
Sign Carlson and extend J.T.

Nashville trades P.K. Subban to Ottawa for Erik Karlsson
Karlsson is then traded to Vegas for James Neal Malcolm Subban and 4th round pick
P.K. Subban traded back to Nashville for Pekka Rinne
This proves to the hockey world that P.K. is a legit Superstar getting traded twice for big name players. |

How do you figure? Bishop was traded straight up for a 4th rounder. Give up Anderson and a second round pick for goaltender in Schneider who could use a change of scenery. Anderson wants to win now, and would be a great mentor to Kinkaid. |

And Bishop is a lot younger, was coming off a great season, and was a casualty of a younger goalie coming up in the system (Vasi).
Are any of those things similar to the Anderson situation? |

Which is why I'm saying Anderson and a 2nd for Schneider. That's a big win for NJ in my book. Bishop's better season and being younger would've warranted a better draft pick with those credentials. |
