if sandin was available at 20, i'd try to trade up for him there with our 2nd.
he might be gone earlier than that. - Tumbleweed
I like him, he might be there at 25, if not, I would like K'Andre Miller. Not quite Byfuglien size, but 6'4" and like Dustin is a forward converted to Defense. Can skate and shoot well, and would add some grit for sure. He's a LHD though.
Moving up in the second round might be worth it this year. There appears to be 4 good d-men that will go early in the second. Ginning, Tychonick, McIssac and Bahl.

if sandin/kravstov/merkley are gone, i'd see if the habs would want to move up.

You just explained the same situation for the Leafs 2 years ago AND the Flyers aren't even close to being called a legit contender. The point being 1...ONE...season having a good year, it wasn't even a spectacular year, doesn't make a team a contender. At least give me a few consistent seasons of being top of the league...that's what Washington did.
Thanks for the insult *stands up and wiggles* - Glak18
No Problem - keep the change.
In the 2017 playoffs, Predators finished with 94 points and were the 8th place qualifying team in the West. They were in the finals - were they contenders? Leafs finished with only 95 points but unfortunately faced the Caps in round one.
There is a difference between winning the cup - which takes a good run in the playoffs and some good luck in most cases and being a contender. Oilers were odds on favorite to win the cup this season before game one - and didn't even make it to the dance. Leafs went from 95 points to 105 points. Good times are coming for Leaf Nation.

I get it your justification is Washington won the cup and Leafs finished ahead of them because of goal differential. So Leafs > Washington or the same.
Contenders get tagged for consistency for MULTIPLE years.
14-15 45 Wins
15-16 56 Wins
16-17 55 Wins
17-18 49 Wins
When the Leafs can do that, I will call them a contender.

Bahl is a giant LHD (6'6.5" and only 17) 230 lbs that
In reviewing the profile for Ottawa 67’s defenseman Kevin Bahl, one word immediately stands out for me. That word is champion. In his coming up through the ranks to the OHL, Bahl was a champion at just about everything he did.
In his time in the Greater Toronto Hockey League, Bahl won four straight championships. He then won an OHL Cup championship. Then to polish off his mantle, he added a gold medal at the Ivan Hlinka for Team Canada this season. It’s easy to see why he is a champion throughout his career. |

Did Nashville miss the playoffs for a decade prior to finishing 8th place in 2017? Again this is what I explained, consistency means the most.
Edmonton...no one called Edmonton a contender except blow hards who thought McDavid would bring the cup by himself.
