Nah man. Bad bad idea that will end in a bad situation where bad things happen.

People always go on about how St.Louis, Anaheim and Nashville have this great D core. That's because they drafted them with their picks. They've been in "contender" status for years and yet they carried on drafting players for down the road.
We need to keep drafting.

- walshyleafsfan

And they made trades.
No one is saying stop drafting, thats just stupid.
But dont always choose quantity over quality when drafting.

Five consecutive league championships
Two Fred Page Cup championships
One RBC Cup national championship
A .742 winning percentage including a team record 285 wins, third all-time in the league behind Mac MacLean’s 611 and Archie Mulligan’s 458, both who coached almost three times as many games as did Keefe
A .747 playoff winning percentage

How long before he's assistant to Babs or gets his own team?

To think how scary this team would have been if we didn't move up for Biggs. Burke the blowhard and his truculence. Just saw him on the Sportsnet panel for the draft...lmao

I read a great article by Travis Yost about this exact thing a couple years ago. You should give it a read.

I am hoping he is Babs successor after Babs pisses off Matthews. Is there truth to that story or is this all media driven?

Rumour rumour rumours.

I expect a quiet draft

- Fakepartofme

Probably, but I hope not.

Really hope there's a bunch of trades.

Toronto sports media would never make something up or blow something out of proportion.

They won't print anything unless it is 100% fact.

And on the very rare occasion where they get something wrong, they immediately apologize to both the player and the public for their mistake.

Now if you excuse me, I have to go feed lunch to my unicorn.

There were rumblings before Babcock even came here certain players would not play for him. Didn't Commodore, Chelios and others come out and slam him?

Ya, he didn't want to play a 46 year old or a ginger on his last legs.

Commodore was angry because he really sucked at hockey and Babcock didn't want to play him. Chelios was angry because he was 73 years old trying to play in the NHL but he sucked, so Babcock wouldn't play him.

This scenario happens all the time when players lose a step, but both of them blasting Babcock? It just might have to do with the way they were treated.

I think Commodore signed there as he was promised to play a certain role/minutes and then it didn't happen.

I think it's pretty reasonable for some players to not like certain coaches.

Not Babcock's fault...

...and not Babcock's problem.

I do recall that whole incident, and I remember Commodore coming off as an absolute d-bag.

He was signed to do a job. It became clear to everyone but Commodore that he couldn't do that job.

But thanks to an over-inflated sense of privilege, he felt that Babcock should continue to play him.

Sorry, Commsie - that's not the way pro sports work.
