Surprised you like Tkachuk more. I hope Kotkanimi is gone
- CanuckDon

I’m not all about numbers like everyone keeps assuming. I like Tkachuk and have him ranked 7th. He’s behind Dobson/Hughes/Kotkaniemi, not too far behind at all though. I actually had a difficult time ordering that grouping the most.

Benning said today they’ll go BPA unless it’s a tie between 2 prospects
- Nucker101

I think at 7 Wahlstrom could be considered a BPA pick, but also so could many other players. If Tkachuk falls he is easily BPA but it sounds like Benning doesn't want him when you hear him talk about him.

“BPA” is entirely subjective so who knows

He did get excited about Whally when he spoke about him. Perhaps Benning has finally learned to play a bit of poker and he is really wanting Whally?
- CanuckDon

I have a hard time liking him but I won't be critical

Yup. every team has their own BPA. if they didn't the draft would be boring as hell.

Another thing I wonder about Wahlstrom is how would he be in the OV slot on the PP?

What about someone from the backend to feed the puck to BB?

Exactly and they are going to play them equally and will have the same strength. 10 solid offensive players on the team. The jet's model.

For those trying to make the comparison of Bo improving his skating to the point that he can be considered a solid 2C and low-to-mid end 1LC to Bouchard improving his skating enough to be a 1 or 2D might want to consider the fact that Bo is an outlier. I think all the scouts might have undersold Bo's innate talent and that he had the Sedins here to teach him their training habits which he himself said made a huge difference for him to improve. Bouchard isn't going to have that, and it's much harder to get better as a defenseman in the art of edges and skating backwards than to improve power skating.
- DariusKnight

It's a good comparison because neither are bad skaters but it's something they need/needed to work on to reach their potential. They both were criticized for their explosiveness or lack thereof and for getting caught flat footed. They both had good, powerful strides.

This is shown in Bouchard's top end speed and him coming 2nd to Dobson in the backwards skating.

In any other draft it wouldn't be talked about, there just so happens to be 5 or 6 incredibly talented skaters at the top of the draft.

Linden: Of course we would look at taking bad money for assets. Absolutely. But it's less realistic because Vegas solved that problem for a lot of teams last year.

The fact the Cap went up 4.5 doesn't help either.

Agreed, Zadina, Wahstrom, Dobson, Hughes. One of the 4 please
- carsonagenic

I would be happy with any one of them at 7.

We went for dinner . You know the seniors early bird special . The wife orders a baked potato with absolutely nothing on it then during the meal she brags that she can make a plain baked potato

All the signs are there that they want players who can skate. That's why I think they are cold on both Tkachunk and Chugga Choochard.

Watch a highlight tape. He is dominant in that spot.
Edit. Better than Boeser imo (in terms of his one timer)

I don't want to fight you because there wouldn't be enough glue in this world to put you back together but.... No, I take Whally.
