Until he isn’t.
Gudbadson is a terrible NHL defenseman, at any salary.
The cap savings of sending a player down is now up over $1m. I believe it was $1.05m last season, and will likely increase with the higher cap. - 1970vintage
You’re wrong. Gudbransen is a good player when he’s not pair with fu@king Hutton or some other scrub that has no business in the NHL. |

As I have stated. When paired with a proper #3 like Edler he has looked like a proper #4. he just can't be the #3 to someones #4 or #5. he is a #4 dman. |

Guddy is this generations, until Bryan Glynn comes along and replaces him.😢 - carsonagenic
How dare you say he who shall not be named in Carols blog. She won’t even say his name anymore. Nobody is worse than he who shall not be named. |

Nothing new really...although, he indicated that he thinks a froward they like will drop due to Kotkanimi rising. He also said the org doesn’t view Tkachuk or Whalstrom As ever being centers. Didn’t sound excited about Tkachuk so perhaps it’s zadina and Whally they like.
No matter what, he is going BPA In round one AND round two. After that he will focus on D. He won’t select a goalie. |

Drafting a D in the first or second round for sure.
Not opposed to picking forward or d at 7, prefer a dman
going to be young next year, bunch of kids in the lineup. - neem55

Good players are good on their own and can lift a player. Spare parts rely on things being better around them.
Gudbranson's best stretches as a player have come paired with a still dope Brian Campbell and the eternally underrated Alex Edler. |

Personally I like Wahlstrom. Other than 2 other players he is the best skater in the draft and his shot rivals Zadina’s. He’s not as flashy as Svechnikov but I have him at 3 if he makes it to 7 we have to take him. |

No he didn’t. Listen again. He said they won’t commit to taking a D because another Lind may fall. No problem taking. Forward at 37 and then focusing on D in the 3rd round and onwards |

So he didn’t say they will go BPA at 37? You are either full of sh!t or can’t listen. Either way not good. |

I have Dobson at #4, only 2 forwards, Svech and Zadina above him.
Hopefully he falls too us at 7.

Its not so much McCann, its misjudging Guddy as a player, his role and resigning him, and how the league changed towards players like him. Got to be ahead of the curve, not driving of the road into a ditch. - carsonagenic
I agree on misjudging his abilities but...
It was smart to resign him if they couldn't find a decent trade. Now he has a contract and no NTC. He should actually have more trade value now than he did at the TDL.

He said there's depth at d, rounds 2-7. You're right he mentions Lind/sliding players but also says "if we do pick a forward in the first round, I would expect us to pick a d close after that". Also stresses BPA in the first 3 rounds but only D and F (in that order), no G.
My takeaway from this and his other interviews in the past week:
- looking for speed and skill
- Literally said "in a perfect world, we'd pick D at 7" at one point this week. I do think this is the priority (as it should be).
- probably staying at 7, likes that pick.
- If someone slides because of other teams reach for C's and D's, they'll take a winger. otherwise a dman.

This is true of literally everything in life. Relationships are better with better girlfriends, work is better with better colleagues, athletes perform better with better athletes around them. |
