Saw you posted this over at HF:

This is exactly what I was worried about when watching him play. He basically lets every forward just cross the blue line with the puck and rarely forces them to dump it in. And even when he does try to challenge forwards(which isn’t often), they beat him wide

I’m sure some of it can be coached, but I highly doubt he goes from being terrible at in the OHL to good at it in the NHL.

I'd take a forward not in the top 10 before I'd take him.

Dobson looks like the floor of second pairing and ceiling of top pairing. Bouchard has floor of bottom pairing and ceiling of top pairing. Bouchard has a higher ceiling than Dobson, but Dobson seems more likely to reach his ceiling. Unless his skating improves Bouchard will never be worth a 7oa pick. But again it is an area that can be improved if a player puts the effort into improving it, just look at Bo. People thought he would be a 3c or at best a 2c and now he looks like a 2c that can be a 1c.

A slow skating project player. Yeah.

The problem with Guddy is cost too much to acquire, and too much on salary. Decent bottom pairing guy though.
- carsonagenic

McCann looks like he will top out as a 3c/3lw, those are easy to get and only have real value as rentals most of the time. the 2nd hurts as we still don't know what he will be yet.
I personally don't miss McCann at all.

Speedwise Bouchard is fine. From what I have read it's his ability to turn, etc that needs work. The things in his skating that need to improve can be fixed if he puts the effort in.

The thing with Gryba is that edmonton is wanting to buy him out just to clear the contract spot. They are willing to pay 300k cap per year for 2 years. They could bury him in the minors for 1 with no cap hit at all, but they don't even want him taking up a contract spot so badly, they will take a 2 year 300k cap hit to drop it.

The people here who want to pick him up should lower their heads in shame.

They are at 39 contracts...

Rumour was they turned down a 2nd and a 4th, which I would consider solid value.

Still too slow to keep up with a forward if you have a terrible first 3 steps.... top speed is no good on 200 feet of ice if it takes you extra steps to reach it. He's not a power forward.... if he's chasing, he's useless. He has to be with the attacking forwards and apparently has a problem with that even in a phone booth.

I'll laugh if Guddy gets traded to the Leafs for a 2nd.

Its not so much McCann, its misjudging Guddy as a player, his role and resigning him, and how the league changed towards players like him. Got to be ahead of the curve, not driving of the road into a ditch.

My point still stands. 900k can be burried. they would rather have a guaranteed 300k cap hit for 2 years than have his contract taking up a space. They could bury him in him in he ECHL and still would have cap savings. Something is obviously wrong with him that the Oilers are willing to do this to be fully rid of him. and people would rather have him at 1m than Guddy at 4?

i think Guddy has a bounce back year next year as he will be healthier than he was in his first 2 years. I also thought he made a great partner for Edler. Despite the fact that he was playing injured.

Until he isn’t.

Gudbadson is a terrible NHL defenseman, at any salary.

The cap savings of sending a player down is now up over $1m. I believe it was $1.05m last season, and will likely increase with the higher cap.

Guddy is this generations Dana Murzyn, until Bryan Glynn comes along and replaces him.😢

Drafting a D in the first or second round for sure.

Not opposed to picking forward or d at 7, prefer a dman

going to be young next year, bunch of kids in the lineup.
