Chiarelli says he's getting lots of calls for his No 10 and is open to. D or a forward for pick. Wouldn't be tied down to right-shot D
Ooooooh make that call and offer Brendan Smith. - tomburton99
Would you do Pionk for that pick? I don't know if I would. Kid looked like he has some good talent last year. |

When it gets to the point, why wouldn't you at least wait to see what other clubs have to say?
I am very confident he stays, but if I were him, I would also listen.

Looks like it is on PSNOW and it does not always run as well as the XB1 port. Maybe I can trial it. I might just buy it for 360 then. I don't want to buy a whole console for one game. |

Yes, but it would be tough. However, then you'd have to be on board to tank, because the right side would look like Shattenkirk, Kampfer and DeAngelo. That is winning you nothing. |

It wouldn't be tough. You just do it. Because in the end you are trying to add impact players to the organization, and I think that Pionk will be a very solid blue liner but never a star.
And there is such a thing called free agency. And there are such things called trades. So, you don't have to be resigned to go into next year with those three guys on the right side and just tanking the season. Although you would love that.

That right side would be hilarious to watch
I just have a real good feeling about Pionk. I think he might be someone you completely regret trading. |

I'm kind of shocked Ty Dellandrea didn't go in the first round. He has the highest character in the draft and went to Flint when apparently nobody else wanted to. I would think a team like the Senators could have traded back from 22 to get 30 and another asset from the Red Wings. Stating the obvious but the Senators could use as many high character players as possible. Mark my words, Ty Dellandrea is a future NHL captain. |

I let Feds make the pick because I was out of pocket, it's his team, and I understood his rationale, but here is what I wrote up before I was sure that Feds had already submitted the pick to Jan. Might as well post it somewhere. :-)
With the 30th overall pick in the 2018 NHL Entry Draft the Detroit Red Wings (represented by Pete V and Feds91Stammer) Select Ty Dellandrea, Center, from the Flint Firebirds of the Ontario Hockey League.
Rationale for the Pick: After drafting Quinn Hughes with the sixth overall pick, the Red Wings turn their attention to the center ice position with Ty Dellandrea from the Flint Firebirds. Dellandrea was in the unenviable position of playing for the worst team in the Ontario Hockey League where he nonetheless excelled as a 17 year old posting 59 points (27 goals) in 67 total games. His 27 goals were good enough for 5th amongst draft eligible forwards in the OHL.
So, what does Dellandrea bring? His hockey IQ is extremely high, and he offers a very good mix of offensive upside while still being able to excel at the defensive side of the game. He is a high character guy that several scouts have pegged as a potential future NHL captain. He competes at a very high level and he will do whatever is necessary to put his team in the best position to win games. But perhaps more important, Dellandrea is amongst the best skaters in the draft. He is both agile and fast, and along with Hughes, fits perfectly strong skating team that Red Wings are attempting to build. On the downside, Dellandrea needs to get stronger and fill-out his frame, but that is not uncommon for 17 year olds in their draft year.
In sum, we think that Dellandrea is the type of player that will move up the board in re-drafts done of the 2018 NHL draft.
My partner Feds91Stammer, would have liked to draft Jesse Ylonen, from the Lahti Pelicans of the Finnish league, in this position. Ylonen is a lightning fast Finnish right-winger who is the type of upside pick that team’s often reach for a bit at the end of the first round. He’s another player that is a great skater, with excellent top end speed and high-end agility. His puck skills are very good, but he’s probably a couple of years away needing to work on his defensive game and general game awareness.
But, the good thing with the Red Wings owning 2 more picks in the next six, is that Ylonen will very likely be there for the Red Wings to draft, along with potential other tantalizing options like Isac Lundestrom and Jared McIsaac. So, in short, Feds will get his man at 32, and if he somehow he is drafted at 31 that leaves Lundestrom just sitting there.

Sure, I'll bet you on that.
But, let's say you have a chance to draft Bouchard or Boqvist and Wahlstrom at 9 and 10. You just do it. Would be crazy not. Almost any combination of the top 10 players would do it for me.
