I’d agree with that.

I don't buy into that. The team just couldn't battle when things got tough. They collapsed.

So you really need us to talk about the poor moves Tre has made? Are looking for something to ease your mind about your pathetic club? Hoping to find someone more pathetic? You’re not going to find it here.
Every GM makes some moves that don’t turn out. Tre’s have not been so negatively franchise altering. He takes some risks and I would rather that than a GM that sits on his hands.
For those really questioning the Hamonic trade, everyone forgets that he is making less than $4 mil as a legit top 4 Dman signed for 3 more seasons and was 25 at the time. More teams were involved in trade talks. What do you think a top 4 D paid under $4 mil is worth? BT paid a fair price.

Yeap the good contract Hamonic was/is on drives the price up. Same as it would for Dougie. I would have liked the 1st to be lottery protected but I don't think the Hamonic trade was that bad at all. I still think he is a type of player this team needs. If he has a bad year this season I might eat my words but as for now Im not that down on the trade. Those picks we gave up could yeild the islanders nothing at all at the NHL level. We shall see.

They’re not a deep team offensively. You lose your top guys and there’s no one to fill in and put up some goals, you’re going to collapse. Couple that with poor goaltending from the backups and the starter when he returned and it’s a recipe for disaster.

This past season was a failure of management to get any sort of scoring depth in case the big guns go down, or in Monahan’s case, play with bad injuries.

That has to be addressed or next season will be a disaster as well.

My head hurts after reading some of the comments posted here today.

To the people smugly accusing us of criminally overvaluing Dougie Hamilton: you wish he was on your team. Check the numbers, they are not lying.

Hunkelese: Shut the f()ck up.

To the Carolina fans who think what they have at number 2 is a sure thing: Alexandre Daigle.

But you are not overvaluing your pick at all amirite?

We can all quit our bickering if this is true (which I pray it is).

That's a pretty meaningless quote. No GM is going to publically say they're shopping anyone unless it's 99% sure that they're getting traded.

^this in bold. ELC. Svetch would go #1 OA any year where there isn't a "generational player" (don't like the use of that phrase). He'll be in the lineup day one of the 2018-2019 season. I think there may be Flames fans massively undervaluing the #2 OA and Svetch

Let me know when he leads the NHL in goal scoring at his position like Hamilton just did

Here's the thing about BT. His pros are getting team friendly contracts within the organization, trade value and getting offseason objectives done. His cons are free agent signings - like the Brouwer signing.

The one exception to the trade value is the Hamonic trade which I felt was an overpayment. Everything else though, he's had the advantage.

- LittleBroDougie

Other teams offered similar packages for Hamonic it was the market rate...hasn't worked out so far but things change. Guy is still a top four D man.

Flames traded picks that have a less than 50% chance of even being full time NHLers for him. Flames lack of forward depth and poor season have people hating the deal...honestly he was fine in his shut down role, team didn't score enough goals.

I highly doubt the Flames will make any deals that make them worse next season

That 10OA might even be as good as a TJ Brodie by the time our window closes.

the best part of how delusional bingo is, is that if carolina hadn't lucked into the 2nd OA pick there is 0% chance he would be talking up schvenikov so much. The second they win the 2nd pick and suddenly schvenikov is the next laine Highly doubt he thought that of him before they won the 2OA pick.

Oh well, I guess he's just excited to possibly get more than 5,000 fans to their home games after getting a high pick.

Or maybe he's just paying attention. Scouts love Svechnikov. Here's what Steve Kournianos has to say about him.

Although it's highly unlikely Svechnikov leapfrogs Dahlin to be the first name called on draft day, his goal-scoring abilities are on par with the likes of Alex Ovechkin and Patrik Laine, only Svechnikov is more reliable defensively at his age.

Hey, look at that. A widely respected draft analyst whose entire career is focused on the NHL draft is comparing him to Laine.
