Is this an off-season where Hextall needs to add substantial talent? Or is that another year or two away?
Provy, Ghost, and TK are legitimate, good NHL players. “Lindbum” (smh), Hagg, and Sanheim had their ups and downs, but showed a lot of reasons to be excited about them.
The established players had dominate years minus a hurt Wayne Simmonds.
Do you trade some of the youth for a Trouba or Hamilton? Do you go all in on a Carlson or Tavares (if he leaves)?
I think it’s time to supplement with real talent. I just don’t know who that is or where it comes from this year. |

Oh okay.... your team hasn't won a playoff series in 7 years and we haven't in 10 years.
You are the epitome of awesome. Congratulations on all of the success. - JVince11

I just read a tweet from John Shannon (via Friedman) that Chiarelli would move the 10th pick for quality defensive help. - Sinisalo4vr
Edmonton is so selfish, it's always about what they want. Ugh. |

10th overall for AMac. Could you imagine? |

No lie. They've been building around the same core for like 6 years now with one playoff series win. Ugh. |

Secretly, Hextall has known since he assumed command that this core would be on walkers before the team sees another SFC |

With reasonable expectations, this is the year the Flyers make the playoffs (not bubble, hope they do or maybe...maybe not). Expect to be solid 1st round matchup and a not surprise 2nd round appearance. Then the next 2 years should be..."this team could be a contender (where Winnipeg is now).
The problem is, defense still has more maturing to do to see who and how many pan out. Developing in juniors and the AHL is one thing, but there's still cooking to do 2-3 years in the NHL. Then you have goaltending. Stop gaps right now, but Hart or Sandstrom are still years away once they make the NHL. There is a chance Hart could become a miracle and be a stud his rookie year in a year or two.
So if you use teams that have drafted good and won cup...2 years.
If you use Washington as a timeline, drafting and being dominant in the regular season for years...5 years.
A Toronto, Edmonton, Buffalo time frame....a decade.

Really Hexy has been building up a new core of spects while trying to stay competitive with this core for a while. If they really believed in this core you wouldn't have seen Schenn for picks and Jorald. |

I think Hextall is great at the draft. I'm not sure how competitive he's made us in the years he's been here. Weise, bad signing. Weal, cheap signing. I'm sorry but the Umberger for Hartnell still stands as a bad trade. Hartnell may no longer be a 30 goal guy but he's still scoring 10 goals with Nashville in the NHL, while Umberger struggled to score one goal a season two years ago and is now...who knows where??
We have a lot of garbage on this team. |

And how did Hartnell end up in Nashville?
Because CBJ bought him out a year ago since he was untradeable. And that was after protecting hm in the ED and exposing William Karlsson who went and scored 70 points for Vegas. |

I know I'm late to the party with this but I just saw they resigned Manning. JFC!!!
Maybe it's only to have someone to expose in the next expansion draft, but I don't think I can take another year with him getting more minutes than Sanheim. FFS!

I would have to look back, but I don't think Columbus had a choice protecting Hartnell. Keep in mind too, no way Karlsson nets 40 goals on Columbus last year. The chance he got with increased ice time and role would not of been there if he stayed. That plays a big part in production. |

Wait...what? I didn't hear that yet. JFC as well. These are the moves that cause you to go backwards. The Flyers signing players because they are "known commodities" have killed them in the past. |
