Tavares 2-4 maximum.
Any team would give Matthews a salary close to Eichel, McDavid.
Tavares because of being 27 and assuming he is looking for a 7 year deal should not be higher than Matthews.
A situation where Matthews gets 8x10mln
and
Tavares 5 x 12.5
I don't really see feasible. That would be more appropriate though (from a 'value' point of view, not Tavares' point of view). |

I just find it odd how people act like they are inside someone elses head or have had personal talks with them.
I assume he wants to win and get paid well. Can the Leafs find that happy area to accommodate both Matthews and Tavares (assuming they get a chance at him)..I hope so.. but I am not going to make up stuff about whats in his mind |

Lol but honestly - Toronto has the best roster to stay competitive long term, has the best market, spends the most on development and player comfort, and is his home town team. Playing for the NYI could have made him realize what he wants. It might not be money.
JT probably wouldn't notice a difference in lifestyle between earning 10 or 12mil... but he would notice the difference playing for the leafs vs a random team that is the highest bidder. |
