Say goodbye to Nylander then. Or 1sts and 2nds.

If the Canucks do finally pull the trigger, he will be had for a fair price.

- Santo_44

I guess its already written in stone it has to be one or the other.
No other possibility.

Im perfectly fine with moving out our 25th pick in a deal for a D....heck toss in our 2nd too....we've had a lot of picks the past couple of years. I dont mind losing picks this year for a quality man.

forget tanev.

Are you not concerned about the amount of games he's missed in his career? Like at all?

Games missed since being a full time NHLer. 18,12,13,29,40.

Apparently not.

He misses too many games to injuries......this is Toronto...no sense trading for a D to play him soft.
I hope the leafs look elsewhere for D.

A lot of those injuries were bad luck. A pick to the face??

GM's are well aware of his injury history...it brings his value down. If the Nucks GM isn't willing to realize this he won't get traded.

But. Considering no one on here likes to give up anything more than Lievo and a 6th. Tanev is the perfect D to go after, he is under contract for 2 more years and will cost less than Nylander.

- Santo_44

I hope you are not suggesting a swap of these two players.

That would be a bad trade for the Leafs.

Tanev would be a nice pick up if he could be had for a great deal but the amount he’s injured makes me not want to give up anything significant for him. Too bad cause he would be a great fit with Rielly imo.

I think Sparks should have another chance and some nhl level tutelage..... The MC isn't getting any younger and I would rather lose Pickard.

I think going after Tavares is a good idea.I just think he's not leaving the New York Islanders

We can only hope he has common sense.

It's so tough to give up much of value for him. He is guaranteed to miss at least 25 games a season.

Interesting quote from Babcock:

“Your scouts draft these guys, and let’s just say they are right on draft day,” Babcock said during a recent interview. “But if you don’t develop them, two years later it looks like the scouts did not do their job, but it was you did not do your job developing.”

Now i'm not sure who to blame for Tyler Biggs.

Clearly Mike Babcock, isnt that obvious? He said it himself

He's barely worth a 2nd and b - c prospect...no sh!t he wont cost a nylander.

He's not what the leafs need, a dman who has "bad luck injuries" every single year.

Hopefully the leafs look elsewhere.

- Fakepartofme

I agree, and if they did get him, it should have to be for a extremely friendly price. The injury prone phrase was made up for a reason.

How anyone would want to continue to waste their career away in the NYI system is beyond me TBH. Even with Lou there, they are bound to be bad for a while. Also, Lou is eventually going to retire.

Exactly. That’s the only reason I wouldn’t want leafs to acquire him, otherwise he’s pretty much exactly what they need, you just don’t know if he’s going to play more then 50 games

Tavares Barzal down the middle for the next 8 years is pretty great. They have some good pieces just need to fill around them, they’re not in a horrible spot imo. Obviously need a goalie

That is exactly the same as hyman. Both played a handful of games as a 23 yr old and began full time at 24.

Yeah, but Hyman is captain material because intangibles.

You'd rather stastny who is 5 years older and going to cost like 7.5mil?
- burn

It's better to highly overpay an older, middle 6 centre than to slightly overpay an in his prime legit franchise centre.
