Apples and oranges. My point is if you bring in Tkachuk( ) and he can't fill the role, and you've gotten rid of Granlund, your options are either use Boucher(not an NHL caliber player) or sign a UFA to fill the gap who will:
A. Cost more
B. Be less of an asset to the team due to age

I think Granlund is worth more to us in Van than he would be in a trade. If you had your way and you traded Granlund, drafted Tkachuk and he was clearly not ready to play in the NHL, what is your solution?

1. What team is selling a bad short contract now the cap is at 80 mil? There has yet to be a buyout either.
