Will you cream the jeans if Canucks end up with Tkachuk Miller at 25 and Tychonick at 37

I would consider it a very successful draft.

No one is expecting Lou Lamoriello to confirm anything...but word here in DAL is a five-year deal for Trotz at least $4M per year.

It would cost Tanev though

I guess Leafs will have to remove Tavares from their wish list now

- VANTEL

I think that after they make a push for Grubauer and possibly Tanev he stays there. Upgrade D and G and they are a playoff team.

Peter Chiarelli says he’s prepared to move the 10th pick for a quality defenceman. Has had “some” discussion. Admits it’s not that easy

This where I would say Tavev and Tryamkin

Can somebody who doesn't like Bouchard explain to me why they don't like him? Is it strictly a skating thing or does he have hockey IQ issues? From what I've read, he makes an excellent first pass, has a good shot from the point, but needs to work on his edges/acceleration.

Unless we are looking to flip him I would not make that trade. Tanev should have more value for one. Plus we have Demko coming up.

I’d trade them a pick to take on Nilsson

Conditional pick that they only get the pick next year if Nilsson starts 40 games for them. Otherwise we get one of their picks

McJesus will demand a trade by next summer

Skating is an issue, not his speed, but he gets walked by junior players so his edge work is definitely an issue. Can probably be improved.

The other issue is that he’s a puck watcher and he makes bad reads defensively. His offensive hockey sense is solid, it’s his defensive hockey sense that I don’t like and his compete level when he doesn’t have the puck. I like his offensive game with the puck, especially on the PP. Not a huge fan of his overall 5v5 play.

Plus he’s one of the more physically mature players in this draft, he’s closer to a finished product physically than Dobson for example.

Not like I think he sucks though, a top 15 prospect is still a pretty damn good one. I’ll be disappointed with him as the 7th overall pick though.

He put up great numbers in his D-1 season as well when he was less physically mature. He can get quicker for sure but his top speed is solid.

Gotcha. The issue with defensive reads sounds like more of a red flag for me than the skating, tbh.

Do we know if Bouchard and Juolevi played much together in London?

Yeah, he did. But you would hope a dman of his size in junior would be more effective defensively. I’m sure the edge work can be improved with a skating coach but I knock him down outside of my top 10 because of his questionable defensive hockey sense.

The only time I found myself being really impressed with him as a top 10 talent was on the PP. At 5v5 he did not look as impressive as Hughes or Dobson to me.

So to recap on Bouchard:

-Good Canadian boy
-Captain of his team (intangibles lol)
-Power play QB, big shot
-Questionable d-zone instincts

Sounds like a Benning guy through and through. I'm sure he interviewed well...

Speaking of Bouchard, his D partner Regula is someone I wouldn’t mind in the 3rd round. Doesn’t have exciting upside but he’s a steady, smart dman with good size that can make a good first pass.

I’m guessing his interviews were pretty good since he’s already captain of a junior team.

I agree. I’m clearly want Dobson but he won’t make it to 7. My only consideration now is Smith v Bouchard
