Yeah, giving up Nurse would be tough on our LHD situation, but it frees up Russell's 4mil and brings in a good bottom pairing guy to partner with Benning. On top of that, it gives us Draisaitl's wingman and allows us to draft either Dobson or Hughes which mitigates the long term loss of Nurse. I have cause for concern over finding a 2RD to fill in in the meantime.

I don't know that other Wings fans would love the deal, though.

If we can rid ourselves of Lucic in the dual-retained 3-way I've mentioned before, then we'd be looking at:

Nuge- McDavid- Puljujarvi
Nyquist- Draisaitl- ______
Khaira- Strome- Aberg/Rattie
Caggiula- ______- Kassian

Klefbom- Larsson
Sekera- ______
Ouellet- Benning

Leaves us with ~65.5mil against the cap (assuming 1mil retained on Lucic and .6 bonus cushion for Puljujarvi) meaning we'd have around 12 to 13 million in cap space to fill that 2RD hole, add a complimentary winger for the 1st or 2nd line a 4C and 2 or 3 NHL roster extras. This with Yamamoto and the 6th overall pick in the system. Trading down from the 6th might also be enough to warrant getting both of Philly's 1sts (14 and 19)!
