It's only a haul in terms of the literal size of the deal. Plenty of teams could offer up better players and/or prospects than the people he mentioned.

For one year of a 2 time Norris Winner and 4 time All Star. And that after that year, you get to pay him $12 million per.

I think you guys are going to be shocked by how much less they get for Erik Karlsson than you think they will.

Plus 2 prospects a late 1st and Namestnikov. At the deadline any of those 1sts they get are 20+. So they might be getting a 1st or 2 but they’re 20+. Not nearly as valuable as 9.

They can ask for whatever they want, but in the end, if they don't trade him they will get NOTHING, NADA, ZILCH, ZERO. And how many potential acquiring teams would either: (I) have the cap space to re-sign him; or (ii) be confident that he would in fact re-sign next summer?

In short, if you are telling me that it's going to take the sun, moon and the stars to acquire Karlsson, then tell me who is going to give that to Ottawa.

I actually think Vegas is the best possibility because there cap is in good shape. But, an expansion team giving up three first rounders in a row. They could find themselves in the poop just as fast as they rose to the top of the league.
