I heard they don’t have to decide til they’re on the clock. And feeling bad in any way for Colorado is ridiculous - Slimtj100

i bet they say ok if Zadina is there we take him if he isn’t they let the Avs gwt the pick. That’s what I would do anyway. They can’t risk losing next years pick imo. God damn that was the worst trade ever tho, woofah

There is no right answer for them. You're either definitely giving up a really, really good player this year or you're risking losing a talent like Jack Hughes next year. If they were as bad as they were this past season with guys like Karlsson and Hoffman...imagine how terrible they're going to be next year without them |

Sure, but even if they finish dead last, they still only have what, a 22% chance at the first pick or something like that?

Yeah there's no guarantee that they'd get Hughes even if they finished dead-last, but they'd have the best chance to get him...that's for sure. That's a massive risk, losing the opportunity to draft a kid like that. Especially for a garbage franchise with not-a-whole-lot in the prospect department or on the roster. |

But it’s hard to imagine them not being one of the worst 3 teams next season. How id look at it is, I’d rather have a slight chance at one overall next season as opposed to zero chance this year. To me it’s almost a no brainer. They’re gonna get a helluva draft pick next year, I’d say 90% in the top 5

Yeah I can't really understand why they wouldn't just give up the #4 this year. If it's not Dahlin or Svechnikov, who cares.
I won't pretend to know what next year's draft looks like, in terms of overall talent in the top-5 or so picks, but I'm pretty damn sure that even if they finished with a top-3 pick it would still be a pretty good player.
If I were them, I'd say I was keeping this year's pick right up until I was on the clock to make the selection...and then give it to COL. |

they should have made the pick top 3 protected and gave a little less in the trade.

I saw the rumor where they’d get the pick back in a trade with the Avs for Karlsson, which may be there best course of action |

October 4. Outside possibility they start the season on road the prior day. But seeing that Atlantic and Central schedules have been announced, unless game is against Metro, unlikely. So first game of year is probably at MSG.
Update: confirmed, opening game of season will be at MSG |

Do you give it up if it’s Zadina? I would probably take him and pray with that hammer over my head all year long.

Vesey vs Forsberg. That game last season was nasty and the Rangers sat there and took it. I fully expect them to show some fight this year under a new coach. |

I recognize that it's real easy to say this from behind a keyboard with incomplete information, but yeah, I'd probably bite the bullet and do it...even it MTL passes on Zadina. |
