I'd love for the leafs to trade with the rangers. Give them 25 for 28 and 48, they get back to back picks, and we can add an extra guy in the 2nd. Pick value goes slightly in leafs favour so they might have to add a 4th to get it done. - matt1337
Yeah, anything after 20 I'm all for doubling up on if it means trading down; usually a crap shoot there anyways.
Was looking back at late 1st round picks by the Leafs and... not awesome.
Gauthier/Biggs/Percy comes to mind.
Killing it in the late rounds though: Connor Brown, Johnnson, etc.
Maybe we should trade that 1st for eleventy 7th round picks! |

I am hoping this is part of the Leafs draft strategy going forward.
Leafs hire person who has mono to give it to top prospect
Leafs pick said prospect at a low position in the draft

that would be a great pick up; Wonder what Philly wants for him...I'd have to guess it would be draft picks and/or young forwards. |

honestly, trading down is probably the best option for contending teams. give yourself multiple lottery tickets rather than 1. allows for you to continue having lots of depth even though you aren't getting high picks, if you develop them properly.
i'm not too worried about prior picks that previous management groups have made. they weren't doing swing for the fences picks, rather "safe" picks. look how well that turned out. i'd rather be disappointed that we swung for the fences on a Berggren, Addison, or Nordgren, than safe picks like Gauthier, Biggs, and Percy (though, i did like Percy, being a Mississauga guy). |

I would take him in a heartbeat.
He's a franking Leafs killer - always elevates his game when playing at the ACC (or whatever the frank we will be calling it this year). |

depending on who they get i'd be fine with that. as much as i'd want them to keep gardiner, i don't want them to lose him for nothing. i'd rather trade him for a right defense, or assets that we can use to get a right defense. |
