What makes Bouchard a better offensive player?

Why do you keep taking about Bouchard as a "legit rhd prospect", like lilegren isn't?

- burn

Bouchard has a better NHL frame, better NHL shot, put up huge numbers on a poop team, top 5 in OHL scoring (including forwards), can play two-way game when he isn't expected to play 30+ minutes, comes from a great hockey system. Bouchard dominated the OHL at his position. I've never seen Liljegren dominate a high level league the same way Bouchard did. It's just painfully obvious, Bouchard is a legit top prospect. Liljegren is a mid 1st round project. You could literally trade Liljegren and replace him with whatever you get for Gardiner. If Bouchard was a Leaf today, you'd be busting nuts on every pass he made, guaranteed.

yeah...it's concussions and bullpoop injuries that are career enders nowadays.
- Tumbleweed

Concussions don't even really end careers if you're skilled and young enough. Crosby missed a lot of time but he's still playing and might be better than ever.

When are they allowed to talk to free agents? Exactly 7 days before July 1st?

Bouchard is better than Liljegren and whomever they'll draft at 25th. If you can move up to get a higher quality RHD prospect, you do it and you trade Gardiner to replace Liljegren or trade Gardiner to move up. Either way, moving up to get a legit top prospect RHD is worth paying the price.

And they should be going out of their way to get top RHD prospects. Not only do they need them badly but they're probably easier and cheaper to acquire now as a "top draft pick" than when they turn into the Pietrangelo's or the Hanifin's or the whomever's in the future. If you want John Carlson today, he costs 70-80 million dollars a year into his 30s. Or you get the 18 year old for a fraction of the dollar figure.

Gardiner? No way you trade a serviceable guy that plays now for a guy that will play in 2 - 4 years. With the offence that they have now, and especially if they can add Tavares, they don't need shut down defence, they just need a d that is competent. Liljegren will help, and they will go out and get someone - it doesn't need to be Hanifin. Or Carlson, especially at $70-80 million per year!

Then be objective for once and realize that if the Leafs had the chance to acquire him at the draft for the cost of Liljegren and 25th overall, that it'd be a good deal for the Leafs.

Or better yet, Gardiner and 25th overall and keep Liljegren which I always said could be an option if they're dealing with a team that wants to improve now rather than later (like Chicago or Edmonton).

It's amazing how you think you know so much, thrusting your opinion out like fact.

He lost a year of playing, that undoubtedly hurt him. Recency bias. Happens a lot. Guys that play in u18 tourney and do well suddenly shoot up the rating. Guys that aren't seen as much late in the season usually slide down the ratings.

Lilegren Played the whole year in the ahl which is rare and did very well. His numbers are very comparable to hampus lindholm, if he turns out like that were golden
