Stick to inventing Russian names.

Goalie situation should be fun though. Three AHL starters signed. NHL spots taken. Can't expect Kaskisuo to want to play in the ECHL after his stint on loan for the Wolves.

it'll only be fun if chia trades for one of them to add to his stable of goalies.

June 20th today. No way he doesn’t test free agency now, he’s waited this long.

Ya but he went to atleast one meeting with the leafs before going back. I’m not ruling out him going back to the isles but I think he listens to other teams first.

Says the guy kicking and screaming that the leafs traded away a 2nd
- Santo_44

Plekanec for a 2nd. Big (frank)ing difference.

UG gets upset at trading away a 2nd round pick. But has no problem wanting to throw away two 1st round picks for an unproven player. He has no idea what he's talking about.
- LeafGuy89

Again, Plekanec for 20 mostly useless games for a 2nd round pick is idiotic. Trading a prospect and a pick for a significantly better top prospect is completely different.

If Bouchard is "unproven", what the (frank) is Liljegren and a yet to be drafted 25th overall pick?

If Carolina wanted Liljegren and 25th for Hanifin, do you say no? Of course not. You take Hanifin and you laugh. Same with Bouchard.

This is only a good trade for the Leafs if you believe strongly that Bouchard will be a much better player than Liljegren. Maybe you do, but I bet you're in the minority.
- Thecakeisalie

He is and he will be. Unlike Liljegren, Bouchard held his high ranking. But, because Liljegren is a Leafs prospect he's automatically going to be super wicked amazing in the minds of many despite the reality of the situation

Liljegren seems to be progressing very well. Why would we want to trade him, and what makes you so certain Bouchard is that big of an upgrade from him, or an upgrade at all for that matter? A few complimentary evaluations? Maybe you saw a couple games where he looked good? Lets be honest, most of us know jack poop about most of the guys in this upcoming draft. At least we've been following Liljegren for a year, and he's been adjusting to NA ice and improving his defense.

I don't want to trade him for no reason. It's to get a far better prospect. And it's because Bouchard is a legit better prospect. If Carolina wanted Liljegren and 25th for Hanifin, do you say no? Of course you don't. Because he's a legit prospect who's becoming a legit player which is what Bouchard is likely to do as well.

Lets at least see what we've got in our recent draft picks before we toss them away for a slightly newer, shinier toy.

It's not a "toss away". It's an upgrade. A significant one.

P.S. It doesn't matter at this point where Liljegren was drafted, hell, we all know he fell in part because he was sick and people didn't want to take a risk that mono was the only reason for his poor year. Any team looking at a trade involving him isn't just going to say, "well where was he drafted at, cause that's all we need to know". What matters is how he's been progressing since the draft and what people think he might become, not just that he was drafted at 17, so mentioning that like it sums up his trade potential is just dumb.

Everybody knew he was sick. That's not why he fell. He fell because he was overrated and fell down to a more realistic slot. He had mono, not an incurable brain cancer. He might have lost a spot or two but that's not why he fell so far.

It's amazing how you think you know so much, thrusting your opinion out like fact.

He lost a year of playing, that undoubtedly hurt him. Recency bias. Happens a lot. Guys that play in u18 tourney and do well suddenly shoot up the rating. Guys that aren't seen as much late in the season usually slide down the ratings.

Lilegren Played the whole year in the ahl which is rare and did very well. His numbers are very comparable to hampus lindholm, if he turns out like that were golden

Good video! But can also sell him on the amount of endorsements the local boy will make playing in Toronto than he would playing anywhere else.

But here's what I do:

82 Million projected cap for 2018/19

Offer JT 1yr max deal promising him another 8yr contract following the max deal.
So it would look like this:

1. 2018- 1yr 16 million 28yrs
1. 2019- 12 million 29yrs
2. 2020- 12 million 30yrs
3. 2021- 12 million 31yrs
4. 2022- 12 million 32yrs
5. 2023- 12 million 33yrs
6. 2024- 12 million 32yrs
7. 2025- 12 million 33yrs
8. 2026- 12 million 34yrs

Total 112 Million over 9yrs with an avg 12.4M+++++endorsements

I then sign Nylander to bridge deal 4M x 3yrs

Bridge Marner the following year 5.5M x 2yrs

Knowing after 3yrs your going to have to pay the best one top dollar making other dispensable as a trade chip

Give Matthews long term contract the following year 11.5M x 8yrs

knowing you have Gardiner (4.5M) Hainsey (3M) coming off the books next yr

I trade Martin or buy him out since he clearly is not a Babcock player

My team 2018-2019 team looks like this:

FORWARDS

Johnsson (1.6M) Matthews (0.925M) Marner (0.900M) FIRST LINE

Marleau (6.2M) Tavares (16M) Nylander (4M) FIRST LINE

Hyman (2.25M) Kadri (4.5M) Brown (2.1M) SHUT DOWN LINE

Grundstom (0.925M) Aaltoen (1.2M) Kapanen (0.87M) 4th LINE

Spare: Levio (0.925M)

DEFENCE

Rielly (5M) Hainsey (3M)

Gardiner (4.5M) Zaitsev (4.5M)

Dermot (0.87) Ozhiganov (1.5M)

Carrick (1.3M)

GOALIES

Anderson (5M) McElinney (0.85M)

BUYOUTS

Kessell (1.2M)
Martin (1M)

GRAND TOTAL $71.2 Million Leaving 10M in cap space to load up at deadline with a top 4 D

2018-19 STANLEY CUP CHAMPS.....YOUR TORONTO MAPLE LEAFS!!

Bouchard is another can’t miss future HOFer, like Robbie Earl.
