Tkachuk is my pick. Polarizing player. I don't expect him to be a center.
- jugkope

i hope they take the center. if the team was tanking and building from the ground up like any smart/sane organization would do at this point, i would say Zadina. but if Carey Price bounces back next season then that will keep Montreal out of prime draft position, maybe even into mid-high teens. this could be the only chance they have to draft a high end center. and we know they can't acquire one any other way.

I only fear that Kotkaniemi is not high end and just the best of the rest and we'll fool ourselves thinking we can win the cup with Mikko koivu-lite as our first line center

Me too. Afraid he might be overhyped because of the lack of talent at centre in this draft. He didn't even play centre this season FFS...

The problem with Kotkaniemi is that he won't come here for at least 2 years. Depends if they want a player that they hope can make their roster next season or not.

he played center at the under 18 and he was awesome.

The only reason he didn't play center is he was 17 playing in a mens league, it's uncommon to see a 17yrs old playing that league and he did great with less responsibilities. I am not worried about that part at all.

It's not impossible, but I think it's less likely when he was consensus 3rd pick pretty much all year, Vs. a guy who jumped up 10 spots based on a U18 tournament and the position he plays
