if Dorian was any good of a GM he would sign, Stone to 7.5/7.75m for 8 years and trade him to colorado for 2018 col first 2019 col 2nd, 2019 ott 1st and either Timmins or Makar.

As buffalo will attest, the getting the first pick overall is not a guarantee and if OTT gets zadina, who would be better than Hoffman they might not end up last or bottom 10. depending on their Goltending.

That's an unrealistic haul for Stone. Maybe you'd get our first, Col 1st and a bottom 6 forward.

Does your life revolve around Hockeybuzz? Do you work? Are you employed? I have full confidence that next years pick won't be lower than 4, and even then, Colorado will probably botch it.
- karlssens

Do you mind me asking how you have this full confidence?

From where I sit, Ottawa is blowing this thing up.

So not sure why you think 2018-19 is going to be better than 2017-18.

Just asking...

Alfie! I like the backbone on this comment... had some fire too it lol. You just went from a 9 to a 10 in my books.

and I agree Hoffman was one of my favorite players. I hate seeing him go

- Maverick1818

thanks brotha

Yeah, the anger, frustration, high demands of fans should not be turned down towards this franchise. Hoffman was one of the best goal scorers this team has every had (IMO) and that's saying a lot. He was underrated, I think he hit more posts than any player on the team (and it's not even close)

That said, they should have moved him much earlier to avoid this crappy return.

No Hoffman, possibly no Karlsson, and now talk of no Stone! What is happening?
Good luck keeping Duchene if that happens.

Think positive! If the Sens can go out and get a player like JVR, keep Karlsson, have Ryan and Boedker play above their average crap, have Chabot and White manage break out seasons, have Andy back to normal, Stone and Duchene gets 80+ points, and get Zadina or Tkachuk in the mix for Calder, we could be going places!

That's a lot of variables.

If oTT is to rebuild, they need their 2019 first back, you think Duchene and stone will want out if Karlsson is traded (BTW OTT should trade Duch to MTL for 3rd overall this year +) and Col would be interested mostly in Stone and or Karlsson.

You either have to qualify that "+" or put a next to your comment before I give you my response.

According to @CraigCustance's source, Dorion was instructed not to make a move within his own division. Hoffman winds up there anyways. Good lord.

Hiding behind an avatar and username on the internet and making a weak comment gives a person a backbone? Yikes. You millennial's have it tough.

i think stone's value will never be higher.

col 1st, your 1st, col 2nd and soderberg

should move him at the draft.

you're not getting that imo. colorado didn't even get a high quality piece like that for 2 years of duchene.

best to sell him at the TDL. you're getting 80% of what you paid for him, same type of quality assets colorado got.

LOL Col got a steal for duch and MTL needs a C now because they are in win now cuz of weber and price contracts, KOTKANIEMI, JESPERI who many say MTL would draft 3rd overall, is not ready for NHL yet.

you don't trade the 3rd overall for pending ufa's.

JVR wouldn't sign in Ottawa. There's a pretty bad perception of Ottawa around the league I'd imagine.

Hahaha. My guess is he/she is sitting on the toilet, and struggling to breathe, as they type out their hateful messages. I can’t quite figure out if Coga is the best troll on hockeybuzz, or the worst person.

As for the trade, I feel like the Sens may have gotten a better return if PD had more time to make the deal, but overall it was a move that was necessary. I don’t agree with all of PD’s moves, but in this case the whole league knew Hoffman needed to be traded, and that the trade needed to happen ASAP. These two factors meant that Ottawa was going to get pummeled in the trade, no matter who they made the deal with. When Hoffman landed in SJ there wasn’t the same pressure to trade him, and this allowed them to get the assets they received for him. Even if the Sens could have gotten the same return as SJ did, there is a fairly high chance that none of the draft picks they received develops into a player that has any impact on their franchise.

The Sens should be in a better position to negotiate with Karlsson now that Hoffman is gone, and it should put them in a more favourable position to negotiate a trade if that happens.

i doubt dorion's ability to order a big mac meal at the drive thru, let alone his ability to negotiate a sign and trade.
