You move down 4 spots, get another 1st, a prospect like Forsling, + next year's first for a player who will be walking for nothing next summer. I'll come back to the thread when Erik Karlsson is traded for a Hoffman-esque underwhelming trade.
- EnzoD

Didn't know you were about to turn into a little whiner when we don't respond positively to your offer which is not good enough. Karlsson for a Hoffman-esque offer No, I think if he is traded at the TDL we will more see a Shattenkirk type of deal. But I hope he re-signs or moves now.

I will not take credit for this:

SJS trades all the picks for Karl

So in essence Ottawa traded Karl for Hoffman

What player do the Avs have that is worth Karlsson?

the answer is Mack, but they aren't giving him up, plus he's not what Ottawa needs.

The only way to get fair value for Karlsson is to trade for a star Defense.

The only answers would be Doughty, Hedman or PK and the only one who is even close on the outs with their team would be Doughty.

The only other option would back a package and I don't think fans would ever accept that. You have to have the star defensive power in return.

- Maverick1818

The 2018 1st which will more than likely be a top 3 pick and potentially Jack Hughes

Thats the chip Colorado has to bargain with

You're not getting a "star" player in return for a guy with 1 year left on his deal who could go UFA

That was about all they were going to get for him. Good riddance too under the circumstances. I would guess there is damning evidence to swap him out this fast and cheap. Even S.J knew better.

99 problems but a Hoffman aint one......... anymore

To Ottawa:

#8, #27, 2019 1st (likely a lottery pick bc Stan Bowman ruined the Hawks), Gustav Forsling (22 yr old 200ft D with 80 NHL games already)

To Chicago:

#4, Erik Karlsson

You think you'll get more for Karlsson? I guess time will tell.....you know deep down there's little to no chance he re-signs in OTT so you could lose him for nothing!

You realize it's Karlsson AND the 4th overall pick in your scenario right?

#8 and #27 could get you #4

So it's basically the 2019 1st and forsling for Karlsson

But don't worry, the hawks will be worse next year with karlsson

Not nearly as badly as you and Ottawa fans will be hurt when you get nothing close to my hypothetical offer for Karlsson.... Or when he walks for nothing next summer. Everyone knows, like Hoffman, that Ottawa has to move him. That reduces the return. W/e good luck, you certainly need it the way the franchise is trending.

LMAO ottawa is about to be sold to one of the richest families in Canada and our prospect pool is only getting deeper. Enjoy 21 million spent on captain hairline (Kane) and 3rd line C Toews. I'd be worried about your own team before coming over here.

You think Doiron has the ability to get a fair trade? Taking his history as the Sens GM into account, Avs don't have to offer a player worth Karlsson for the trade to be accepted.

I don't objectively hate Boedker as a player and I think that if used properly, he can be a productive second line winger. He averaged 0.61ppg his last 3 years with Arizona/Colorado before completely cratering with San Jose (0.41ppg over two years in SJ). His skill set and speed theoretically should make him a productive player in today's NHL and he is not yet old enough that his decline has to be age related regression, so the potential is there. That being said, I don't trust Boucher to make the best use of this player as he seems to struggle with putting players in positions to succeed.

The more worrisome aspect at play is that Dorion might have insisted on getting a player back in this deal and might have turned down an objectively better package of prospects and or picks to ensure he got a player. In the middle of the season, this could be understandable, but on the eve of free agency, when players can be had for nothing as free agents and overpaid players on other teams can be had for little to nothing in a trade to free up cap space, it is inexcusable to accept a lesser offer to ensure a salaried player was part of the return.

I have no confidence in Dorion whatsoever to make the inevitable Karlsson trade.

If Dorion flips him at the deadline or before the season starts for a 2nd, and eats some salary, I'd be okay with this.

I can feel the anger in your posts. You see, while the Hawks may suck now, they were the best team in hockey for almost a decade and won not one, not two but THREE Stanley Cup Championships over 5 years. As such, I could care less if they don't win another Cup until 2035. I was trying to start a dialogue, not a bickering match, and have yet to see a counter offer to my trade proposal. But since you went there....

Refresh my memory, when was the last Ottawa Stanley Cup Championship?? 1927??

I don't trust PD, that's why I still think signing Karlsson is the best option. But any GM worth having would never give up a franchise player unless you have a franchise player coming back.

Fans would never forgive him..... Personally I think he should be fired right now for that stupid Hoffman trade

What would you do if some idiot Sens fan says yes to this? Call up Bowman and Dorian and say "we here in the hockey buzz forums have come to an agreement on what should be a fair trade for both teams".

I don't think your far off what Karlsson will get though but adding the 2018 forth overall pick would be a pipe dream.
