I think Sandin. Not saying the others aren't really good picks. I just think in the real draft Sandin is going to get picked higher than we expect. - Pete V

Depends on how badly Carolina wants a player in that slot... Kapanen is pretty underrated as well. - aries1976
Do people not think Kapanen can be a 15-20 goal scorer with the added minutes?
Sparks has some of the best AHL numbers of any goalie out there... He can be a solid back-up.
If Ryan Merkley gets his head straight, he can be a big time producer at the NHL level.
Hanifin is a big piece to be sure, but with Slavin, Pesce, Faulk, Fleury, TVR, Bean, McKeown, Carrick all in the system already...
I'm not sure it's that hard to replace a guy who, with almost 250 games under his belt, plays 19 minutes per night, has a consistently negative giveaway/takeaway ratio and isn't all that physical.
He's a nice piece, and he's going to be a good player, but he's not what we need right now. |

Goalies have about 0 trade value, Kapanen is a 3rd line guy - nyrangers9479
And Hanifin is a borderline top 4 defenseman right now.
Do you not see what the Canes have been rolling out lately?
This trade gives them
Zykov-Aho-Teravainen
Skinner-Staal-Svechnikov
Kapanen-Necas-Lindholm
McGinn-Rask-Williams
Slavin-Pesce
Fleury-Faulk
Bean/Carrick - van Reimsdyk
Darling
Sparks
If need be it's not too hard to find a LD who can play 15 minutes per night to fill that hole. |

McGinn-Necas-Lindholm
Foegele-Rask-Williams
Slavin-Pesce
Fleury-Faulk
Hanifin-van Reimsdyk

Perhaps. I'm just not sure that Hanifin's value is as high as some would suspect. |

Too many people are too willing to take on albatross contracts. Before it's all said and done, the team will have $30 million worth of cap space to actually use after all of the buyouts and crap contracts we take on.
