I'm gonna go throw up. Petry isn't even close to Risto and trading your top notch 2C borderline 1C 60+ pt scorer for a rookie winger.
That's disgusting. - JVince11
He'll do anything to get rid of Risto at this point..

if he is so great, why are we trading him - homiedclown
to get picks we can turn in to prospects that we can turn in to players that we can trade for more picks!
....obviously!

when the dust settled
what did the leafs end up getting for Kessel
pick 30?
the players never did anything - homiedclown
I believe the trade tree ended with basically them getting Kapenen, Spaling, Kerby Rychel, and Frederik Anderson. |

Zadina is the truth he's going to win some rockets - gerbe75pts
$13 million in salary goes out $6 million comes back
I mean there is a lot that could be done with that extra $7 million for the next 3 years,
Zadina looks like he will score like Laine.
That's the type of player Jack needs on his wing.
I would find a good shut down 3rd line center and I would probably make a run at Carlson as well if that happened. |

I honestly don't want to trade him unless we're getting overpaid. There is absolutely no need to move him out of this lineup right now, unless the price is right. |

Yes it did. Quite the haul if you ask me. Kapanen is gonna be a good one. |

Cause there is no use in paying a guy 7.5M to be your third line Centre and he’s the best trade chip we have to acquire wing depth. Casey might not be ready for 2C this year, but this is the highest ROR’s trade value will be. If the rumours of him and Eichel not getting along are true the it only makes it even easier to move on from him. - Pegullaville
If THIS is your reasoning.... I'd much rather keep Risto and ROR... Sign JVR to a big contract.
JVR - Eichel - Sam
ROR/Casey - Casey/ROR - Okposo
Zemgus/Nylander - Asplund/ERod - Pommer

I like Risto
I would love to keep him.
However if you have to give to get.
Petry did out score Risto last year.
But I would keep the younger guy here. |

Montreal is going to Pony up I feel it the pressure is going to build up and they're going to get Ryan O'Reilly for the 3rd |

Ristolainen for #10 from EDM
Pick 10 plus ROR for pick 3 and Jeff Petry
Sabres add
Petry
Zadina
For
Risto
ROR - sbroads24
Not bad. I wouldn't do it, but I get the logic |

It helps that Boston also screwed up massively in that Seguin trade later on. They don't have anything to show for it either. |

I feel like this is their version of us saying that XYZ prospect is gonna be good. He's already 22 and has 10 pts in 55 NHL games.
His best year with the Marlies was a 18 goal 43 pt season. I mean Justin Bailey has 2 20 goal seasons and a 45 pt season under his belt in Rochester. 8 pts in 52 career NHL games too.
They are "basically" identical. |

Literal projectile vomiting in every direction. A 30 year old Dman making more than Risto for 3 more years who has a .31 ppg average.
I need to take a shower after this conversation. Good grief. |

Supply and demand.
A reputation around the league that doesn’t match what we see here. |

Because we don't need to trade him, especially in the division. If they want him, pay up |

You mean like when they drafted Zboril, DeBrusk, and Senyshyn at 13, 14, and 15 in 2015 and every analyst couldn't put together sentences because of how bad it was?? Then they followed it up in the 2nd round with Carlo, Forsbacka-Karlsson, and Lauzon?
They get one really good guy every so often like most teams. McAvoy, Pastrnak, and a Dougie weigh out the bad ones. I don't think Vaakanainen, Studnicka, Frederic, or Lindgren from the last 2 years first 2 rounds will be anything special either. |
