Cause I don’t think Erod is established enough defensively to handle the minutes he’s going to have to play as 3rd line C. I’m assuming most of Ozone starts are going to go to the Mittelstadt line followed closely behind by the Eichel line. Erod would have to be a shutdown centre.
- Pegullaville

"shutdown center" is another imaginary characteristic

Sabres, Panarin already said he is not looking to sign.

Too much for a guy looking to test the market.

"Why trade anything for him when the Sabres can just sign him for free next year"

Orrrrr, why not keep the prospect, if you're Montreal, and grow your team the right way, instead of trading away all that for a 28 year old?
- Powerslave

Cause Bergervin won’t be there to see Kotkaniemi turn 20 if they don’t make the playoffs soon.

I think Bergevin won't be there in two years if he keeps making bad trades. If the Leafs can rebuild and fans are happy then Montreal certainly can as well.

They don’t have to be,
but it’s generally how it’s done

Trade Risto, Bogo gets hurt, and our only RH defenseman hasn’t even played a full season yet

That’s not a great idea

- jdfitz77

Different pairs I mean.

Trouba and Buff are WPG’s 1 and 2 and play on different pairs because they are both RD

Ok....so lets say we trade ROR.

I know there are concerns that we are throwing Mitts to the wolves. What about signing Riley Nash to start the season as the 2nd line center? Then we let him and Mitts battle it out as the season goes on?

From @JoshYohe_PGH: Phil Kessel not against a trade from the Penguins. Coyotes, his preference, aren't a likely destination

Hmmm, wants to go to the desert, wonder what he'd think about Buffalo? Don't think he'd be up for that.

What does spring to memory is how well Justin Falk, of all people, handled McAutoHart in the few games he played against him.

Bergervin will be out regardless. So might as well go out swinging.

He wants to go to AZ because of Tocchet but the Coyotes are looking to hit the floor of the salary cap. Matt Moulson has a $5 million cap hit with only $3 mill in salary. I wonder if they could pull something off

I bet Riley Nash gets a really dumb contract and I hope it's not from us, I would rather take a shot at Derek Ryan

But is Arizona willing to part with a larger package of picks / players to get to the floor? Seems silly when there are tons of teams that would pay you to take a large cap hit, even like a Moulson as feetontheair22 mentioned with only 1 year left.

I guess, but if they're not going full rebuild at this point, they're morons. Time to blow it up.

Maybe we could sell him on the fact that our playoff drought is "desert-like"...

Ristolainen for #10 from EDM

Pick 10 plus ROR for pick 3 and Jeff Petry
Sabres add

Petry
Zadina

For

Risto
ROR

- sbroads24

For mister Risto is only good because PP. He and Petry had the same amount of PPP last year. And it was a fluke year for Petry who had a 50% increase in goals and points over his career high. Yeah, let's buy high on a 30 year old player with a not good contract.
