Boedker has not been injury-prone recently, missing only 11 games in the last three years... for perspective's sake, Mike Hoffman has missed 12 games over the same span.

And while not as dynamic a scorer as Hoffman, Boedker does have two 50+ point seasons in the last 5 years and has averaged 0.52ppg over that span.

He has never scored 20 in his career. His best season was 19 / 50+ pts. He never broke 50 again. Heck, he never broke 40 for that matter. He's had some injury trouble, but if he had been taken out of the top 10 he'd be getting half of his current salary. 3rd liner that's just ok in his own end.

I see him as a comparable as Darren Helm. Oft injured, okay skill, good speed, overpaid.

He makes less than Tyler bozak makes. And scores comparatively. And is likely regarded as a more complete player by the community that signs those contracts.

Boedker is in a nutshell why fans here loved Shane Doan so much. Even in the twilight of his unremarkable career, he was better than the "future stars" - guys like Boedker, Hanzal, etc.

Grew up in Winnipeg so always had a spot for Doan. Met him once about 10 years ago in Calgary while wearing a Jets Jersey. His boys had a good chuckle at his expense then. He was the last guy left to have worn the original Jersey at that time. He was a warrior but the game passed his skill level when he was about 24. Great heart and soul guy. But that can't be paid for anymore. The Ryan Smythe's and Shane Doan's no longer have a place in the game.

YYC is about 3 hours from most of the Cali airports. At least the last times I've traveled to any of them directly.

You have to love this deal if you're SJ. SJ's window is closing with some of their key players hitting that age, so this definitely gives them more firepower.

If they can bolster their bottom six a bit they're right back to being a legit contender.

Not really. Could work out but very risky. They’re betting big on the on ice performance being more important than off ice issues. Could go either way at this point.

Burns and Pavelski are both 33. They aren't showing signs really yet, but that can change quick once you hit the 34/35 mark.

Buffalo has SJS 2019 or 2020 1st round pick which could be gold if this all falls apart.
