I don't think most people ever disliked him. I think they disliked his contract (cap hit and length) relative to his on ice play. He seems like a nice guy and as a 3rd pair defender, he's fine. But I'd rather the Flyers didn't offer him that insane contract.

In the top 4...no.
- Glak18

eh, i think he's fine as NUMBER 4? which, i guess if Sanheim makes strides it would kinda be like last year...but with Sanheim covering up a lot more?

i'm not sure who pushes Mac daddy out of that second pairing, unless someone is acquired.

so yeah, actually i guess my answer is also no?

I am interested in this as well. Please let me know if this is true. I never get gamecenter because the most important games always end up having blackout restrictions.

ButtonTSN has us taking Noel and Wilde. Hoping his sources in the Org have been silenced because he has had a good idea of who the Flyers like in the past.

Im leaning towards the Flyers moving up at this point and securing one of these 5 targets.

Dobson
Bouchard
Zadina
Wahlstrom
Hayton

Either that or trade 19 for something that can help the Flyers now and in the future.

- Baxter27

If Hextall meant what he said about his definition of acceptance risk tolerance and the type of red flags on a player they won't take, they will stay away from Wilde. If he meant what he said about likelihood of hitting ceiling AND a general preference for centers over wingers in round one, they won't draft Noel.

I wonder if we could offer Mac for Johnathon Ericsson who has two season left on his deal. I believe Mac makes a year more. Mac is more mobile. Maybe we could offer something to sweeten the pot, just to be rid of Mac's deal. An Umburger/Hartnell swop.

I actually have no problem with his contract at this point. With he cap going up, and with some dead weight coming off next year (Lehtera, both goalies), and the influx of young players, his cap hit has gone from crippling to simply overpaid.

While I don't think he's a true top-4 defender, the young players have all given him praise if helping them get acclimated to the NHL level. I say let the contract run its course and, if he wants to resign on a 1-2 year deal for around $2M to be the 7th defenseman, I'm all for it.

Edit: Ericsscon and AMac both have 2 more years left, and I don't think Ericsscon is much better than AMac. Their cap hit difference is relatively negligible, so I'd rather stick with Amac.

I think I have more issues with Weise than AMac and Lehtera.

Ericsson can’t even skate so I’d stick with Amac too

Yeah, he's the one I have an issue with. Lehtera, we know he's gone after this year, and he actually played decently (not well, decently) late in the year. Weise is the one that hasn't come close to playing to his deal.

Oh boy, a part of the reason why we lose a guy like Simmonds is because of a guy like Andrew McDonald. We're not even going to replace Wayne Simmonds if we move him.

I would think you could get #1 overall by trading Coots and Patrick (NoPa)

Are you referring to cap space and re-signing Simmonds?

Flyers got 99 problems and cap space ain't one.

Sorry if this got beat down already as I mentioned it late in one of Bill's Blogs a few days ago.
What would have you given up for either Galchenyuk or Domi or were they guys even on the radar?

Flyers offseason plans:

- Draft Farabee at #14.

- Sign Tavares to 7-year, $70M
- Discover murdered bodies of Weise and Lehtera.
- Order buffalo wings

- jmatchett383

Really? So why not resign Simmonds without the thought of the other young players you have to give deals to? Provorov, Patrick, go down the list.

Because signing Simmonds isn't a concern for the next few years that AMac's contract is a factor. The concern is if he's signed to a 5-8 year deal at a cap hit his performance won't justify after a few years.
