I don't think Hexy is going to spend what it would take to move up to get most of these guys. Maybe, if a guy they really love is still on the board at 10, they reach out to Chia and try to move up to that spot. But beyond that, I just don't see it happening.

I can see them using pick #19 to move down as being the more likely deal. Perhaps the Red Wings still have a guy they really like on the board at 19 and they are willing to offer picks #30 and #33 to get their boy. That's a deal I can potentially see Hexy making.

Correct, move UP into top 10. Sorry. I may be putting too much into some of the "experts" and their scouting analysis but these RD are strong pieces. Could a move be made with either pick #14 or #19 and an NHL piece? Obviously, we (the fans) would love to give away Weisse or Lehtera, or Gudas but that not may be realistic. #19 and Raffl?? I'd do that in a heartbeat if one of those top dmen are on the board. Still could get good piece at #14. Probably a pipe dream.

I can see us moving a player or two to move up. Not necessarily solely a 1st round move up either. I do wonder if Hexy dangles players such as Neuvy, Weal or Gudas along with later pick(s) or future picks (2019) to move up in 2nd or to re-acquire a 3rd if someone’s there they like.

See I am actually feeling a little the other way. He has ammo to make moves and position this team better for this year and next when i really think they start making strides.

I don't think Neuvy or Weal have near enough value to bring you any more than a late round pick. Gudas + #50 could likely land you a high second and maybe a 3rd in 2019 as I don't see any team giving up both a high 2nd and a high 3rd for Gudas and #50.

Honestly, after the year he had last season, if Gudas wasn't a righty, you'd be lucky to get any more than a high 4th for him.

With that settled, Lehtera, Raffl, and both current goalies off the books, and AMac, Gudas and Weise all going into the last year of their deals, I think next offseason is when you will see Hextall get aggressive.

Agreed. Also, to the guy suggesting Raffl or Gudas have value, they don’t. Simmer plus the 14th is how you would move up in this draft. Or both firsts. I’m not overly excited about it unless they move up a lot and I don’t see it happening. Expect a quiet draft.
