The only club with any knowledge of this prior to the deadline was Ottawa. They were well out of the playoff race by then and instead of getting a 1st + by moving him while the Sword of Damocles dangled overhead they overplayed their hand and got bent over Chiarelli style. Looks great on them.

When does Dorion's head roll? The org knew about the Hoffman's GF thing since before the deadline and they didn't try to trade him when they could have gotten a 1st rounder or something decent.

Now they get a potential 5/6 defenseman to add to their glut of those and a Boedker who has fallen off the map.

I doubt that little; last year he got $8M, coming off a major injury.. This season, got injured again. I would've guessed a 1 yr/$6M deal

He's doing it again with Karlsson in my opinion. If he waits until after the draft he will end up with less than if he did it before.

He should trade him for a top 10 pick in this years draft and give their 4th pick to Colorado.

If there was any hard proof, the police would have issued more than a peace bond.

Ottawa fans need to be careful what they wish for.

I hear of lot of "Melnyk out!" but I've yet to hear a realistic proposal for a new owner who would spend the necessary Benjamins to keep the Sens in Ottawa and competitive.

It's a tiny market with no corporate base, and the federal government can neither buy tickets nor accept them. It makes it pretty tough to turn a profit.
