Well, apparently Montreal is and Bergevin hasn't made a good deal in his entire tenure at Montreal yet so why not rob him blind if he's willing to make that mistake? That's why Fakesie is bringing it up.

The Leafs (JFJ) traded a 1st round pick for Toskala once upon a time. San Jose took that pick and moved up and grabbed Couture. You can get way ahead of the pack by picking on an obviously weak GM in an obviously bad situation.

that's how we're getting Karlsson and the #4 pick for Leivo

Dude...Karlsson AND THE 4th
- AdamFrench

EnzoD will reply that the #8 going the other way is practically the 4th.

As I said, it's not enough, but it's important that Ottawa fans see these kinds of proposals.

It will make the crying a little less loud when Karlsson is actually traded...for pennies on the dollar.

You give chia too much credit.

Sandin is going higher than most predict imo.

- Tumbleweed

If Brown was a former Bruin like Lucic or a defenseman, maybe, but Brown? Chia can make mistakes but usually they have something to do with what he actually wants or needs.

#8 + #27 could get you the 4th.

Means it's a 2019 1st and foolsing for Karlsson. That's pretty bad.

For Panarin?

I can't imagine what it would take.. I'm guessing it would have to start with Nylander + or Marner +

- PatC80

They are obv non starters...Panarin for 1 year only..so cost shouldnt be crazy imo

You can't get that little for a multiple Norris winner. You just can't.

#8, forlsling, #27 and a 2019 2nd would be a very good package for the sens. Basically the high end of what they could get imo.

He is a norris trophy winning dman. He's not coming cheap.

- Tumbleweed

Yeah he also had injuries after winning plus everyone knows Dorion has no leverage. 4 pieces is too much. He won't get that.

Gauthier is big, strong, played in the Q, and by all accounts has shot a puck once..

We should be able to get the #3 pick and Poehling.

Dorion still has leverage if Karlsson is okay with signing an extension, which now that Hoffman is gone, is a lot more likely. 80+ million over 8 years can become very convincing. If they keep their payroll in check, they can afford to keep him and they did just clear millions in salary.

So how did I represent the leafs in Jan's mock draft on here? Think I made the right decision?

That's getting less than McDonaugh though.

I wrote out a response but you're not worth conversing with. You're strictly looking for an argument.

he still put up plenty of points last year. one down year didn't mean kessel's career was over.

there just aren't multiple norris trophy winning defensemen available. he's getting something good, but not great.

To Ottawa:

#8, #27, 2019 1st (likely a lottery pick bc Stan Bowman ruined the Hawks), Gustav Forsling (22 yr old 200ft D with 80 NHL games already)

To Chicago:

#4, Erik Karlsson

You think you'll get more for Karlsson? I guess time will tell.....you know deep down there's little to no chance he re-signs in OTT so you could lose him for nothing!

-EnzoD

Holy poop.

- AdamFrench

I think that would be on condition that he re-signs with the Hawks.

Trade deadline makes teams go crazy and he had a year left on his deal. I don't know if the Senators want to risk waiting until the deadline and potentially losing him for less or nothing. It's a tricky situation.

Kapanen, 25th and Sparks for Hanifin and Derek Ryan.

I'd do it.

Kovalchuk as a pending ufa:

kovalchuk, throw-in junk, 2nd for Oduya (mid roster player), Bergfors (good prospect), Cormier (B-prospect), 1st, and 2nd.

bascially 2 pieces for 5.

No. We should keep Sparks and trade McBackup. He'll be worth more in net then what he might get from a potential trade.

If Sparks gets you Hanifin, you do it and dance in your underwear for the next 15 years..

Rielly, Hanifin and Dermott on the left side;

That would be so nice, plus we could trade Gardiner for a RHD.
