Took me about 30 seconds, Wikipedia and one cell in an Excel spreadsheet (since I didn't have a calculator handy on my desk at the time) while at the well paying career in the field of my college degree. But please, lecture me more on the path to success.

Trotz did not get the best out of Ovechkin. Ovechkin is the best goal scorer in NHL history. If anything, OV made Trotz look good. Also, Ovechkin was always good.

An amazing goal scorer who also recently had that horrendous +/-. That takes some doing, or should I say not doing. DC was a revolving door for coaches before Trotz showed up.

I don't know why you are so invested in an anti-Trotz narrative. I really didn't know one way or the other based on his time with the Preds. He was never given much in the way of scorers there, and he was probably past his shelf life when Lavy replaced him. If we are going to talk about his record, the first few years coaching an expansion club shouldn't count, either.
